Re: My RS1800, OMP cage fitted, then removed.
Your right mate, its a very snug fit, problem was getting the thing bolted to the roof above the windscreen,
it has 2 lugs on the cage which I knew with taking the roof off I must get right,
I had to cut the dash as well, drill and tap the centre plates, drill out the front plates. put all the bolts in,then the plates were welded to the floor.
I replaced the 2 tubes which join the front to the back with longer ones, they are now 9" in length.
Then took the whole thing back out
Getting both strut braces painted the same colour as the cage, Anthracite

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage fitted, then removed.
Cage and rear brace are painted and look stunning
I'm spending Friday prepping the inside,
then Saturday morning the interior will be painted and oven baked
Then next Monday I can put the cage back in, carefully
I will try and get some pictures of the progress being made.

Re: My RS1800, Inside primed.
So, I have been working all day on her
Rear standard euro n/s light in, so I have a matching pair now, new no. plates on. yellow bolts have been swapped for black ones btw
Been using the air saw again
During really hot track days I can remove the rear no. plate for more airflow
Interior cleaned with thinners then etched
All inside is now primed and ready for top coat first thing in the morning
Pictures from inside the oven
More pictures tomorrow of top coat

Cheers fella, I still have loads to do before my first track day in April
I'm lucky as I have my van for an everyday run-a-round.
I would hate to drive this daily though I would be deaf with a compacted spine within a month
Also thanks to Luke again for "having a word" with Vibratechnics
Ordered my competition gearbox mounts up from them and saved nearly £20 thanks to the M4D one
Should have those on Monday

Can't wait to see the top coat on now, and put the cage back in.
Yeah, I have been spending 1 or 2 hours on it lately
I think we are bouncing off each other with ideas/inspiration mate, but you did start it
RS Combe in July I will have a passenger seat in, but the Action Day in April I want to run with just one seat, just to see how fast I can actually lap Combe in
btw, nice write up in FF again this month, also seen a little bit about the Carbon roofs in there as well

Re: My RS1800, Inside primed.
Jay, I'm saying I prefer anthracite on this car
James, I will give you a buzz next week to book the old girl in for a check over
Things will move quickly after tomorrows painting.
In the next week these are the plans;
Cage in,
Glass out Polycarb in,
Competition vibratechnics gearbox mounts on
more lightening (of course )
Give her a good polish,
wheels, front strut brace, suspension tops, sent away for powder-coating.
Race battery installed

Re: My RS1800, Inside primed.
Shaun, which day will you be stopping for food and sleep then
Im not judging never do, but got to say those white wheels do look bloody good.
BUT... I also know how good anthracite looks on a dark track car....
+ Hides the stupid amount of brake pad you rip apart too each session.
Last year i was getting through, a set of front pads every other track day.

Luke, yeah I know where your coming from, but I just cannot be arsed to clean these if they are White, so many spokes
The ones on JNE are bad enough
If I don't like them dark I will get them re-done in white again
Henry, I 'm sure I will be behind you at some stage (just before I lap you )
Xr2i-trackcar,If they are for the track, the front ones won't stay white for long
its all personal choice at the end of the day guys

Re: My RS1800, Inside primed.
bloody hell, you really are getting serious with the weight loss!
you sure you need the rear floor pans and boot floor?
it really is looking brilliant mate, is going to be a great track car and cant wait to see it in action!
and your defo right about white wheels on a track car, dont stay white for more than a couple of laps. Plus really think that the anthracite does suit the pacifica colour alot better and will be even better looking when the cage is in and the same colour.

Re: My RS1800, Inside primed.
Well interior is painted and I have started to put the cage in
The colour is slightly lighter than Pacifica, but I knew that so its not a problem
Also found time to paint my track wheels ready to have the Yokos put on next week
So Monday I will finish bolting the cage down, put drivers seat and harness back in,
swap wheels and start on the polycarb windows.
Coming together at last
