Shes coming back to my place for work to finally begin on the engine transplant

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO
Well, UFO has finally made it back to my place today
The car has been outside uncovered for 2 months now,
the carbon roof was exposed to all the sub zero temperatures of the last few weeks, but I'm happy to report it stood up well and it hasn't been damaged in anyway.
So, the big strip down begins over the next few days, I'm in the process of putting lights in my garage so I can work on the car in the evenings, ensuring she will be ready for Combe Action Day and RS central Day in April
Pictures/updates will follow regularly

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, ready for the strip down
Well today the stip down began, finally
Started by removing the front bumper, then rad, alternator, starter and exhaust manifold.
Then my hands went numb so I had to come indoors
I took the new engine down to my mate yesterday whos going to strip it and inspect,
then if alls well, balance the bottom end, skim flywheel etc, and do some head work
After working on it today I can see so many places where I can save weight
This is how it started
currently
The car will be in stealth mode this year with black wheels, and all the stickers removed

Good to see it is finally having some TLC Shaun! About time you tucked her up in the garage instead of out in the cold with that carbon roof! When it gets warmer I will help you but it was so cold today I went home and err...studied aka slept
Let's hope the new engine is sat snuggly inside her bay before action day

Just noticed your oil catch tank.
I like that...a lot. Wish i'd thought of that before parting with 30 quid.

Shes gonna be treated to a new one from Halfords when shes finished you know
It worked well, at the end of a heavy session I would just pull the bottle out of the holder and pour the oil back in the engine.
Did sweet f/a to the engine bay last year, it was just a case of doing everything else first.
Can't wait to fit the 3 way Leda's and the CTS box
Thanks for the comments everybody

Don't worry fella, my hands will get dirty
The only work I tend to get people to do is paint/bodywork, all the dirty work I try to do myself if weather/time allows.
I won't be doing the engine/head modifying either as I niether have to knowhow or the correct tools to do that.
I will be doing engine/gearbox removal/ fuel tank removal, suspension removal, new engine/gearbox , fuel cell, 3 way suspension & my new carbon bonnet fitting. ( & buffing here and there as well )
Mapping is obviously as specialised job as well.

Progress at last
Today I have removed the old engine and gearbox,
No pictures as my camera battery was flat , but plenty will follow tomorrow,
Tomorrows plans are to clean/degrease the engine bay
remove fuel tank/filler neck and all fuel pipes
I should be able to see what needs doing then, I will probably give the bay a blow over before the new engine & box go in.
Should have the engine back within 2 weeks,
been told I can safely run to 7.5k with it

Thats fine mate, towards the end of this year would be good for me, you can keep it all Winter then
Right, today more progress as such
Cleaning the bay
What a shi**y job, bought myself some degreaser and got to work.
Before
After
The bay will be painted before the new engine goes in, also today I've decided to ditch the existing brake servo etc and go pedal box set up.
Suspension will also be powder coated and any others bits I find need doing as well.
Tomorrow is fuel tank removal day if its not to cold
