More progress today :D

Out came the dash board in several pieces due to the cage

Image

Image

I have another dash which will be cut down to what I need then flocked before being re-fitted. (think I will need to take the screen out to do so :bonkers: )

existing pedal box, all the brake set up under the bonnet, front brake pipes and the ecu with its loom were all removed.

from this
Image

to now this
Image

Image

I was looking for another loom to go in, but I'm just going to cut out whats not needed,

So all the brake lines will now be run internally.

Next weekend I will carry on preping the engine bay for its repaint.

:)

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, engine bay completely stripped

Postby Turboboy67 on Sat Feb 21, 2009 9:03 pm

Today I finished stripping the engine bay :D

The only things left to be removed are the suspension strut tops and the steering rack once its in position to be painted,

atm I can still wheel the car in and out of my garage, which is very easy as its literally just a shell now

Next job is to get underneath and start the prepping ready for a few coats of blue paint,

Hopefully the underside and the bay will be painted out within 3 weeks.

just the one picture of a very empty bay :bonkers:

Cheers Deano,

Jay, I got a lot of prepping to do mate, and I mean a lot

I got to take the car round to my parents get it up in the air,

take all the suspension off, take all those bits over to the powder coaters,

It can then be painted, and then the re-build begins

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, more boring prep work !!

Postby Turboboy67 on Sun Mar 01, 2009 8:04 pm

Well another boring day in the garage prepping the engine bay :bonkers:

Its now had 4 de-greasings

I finally got round to start grinding down the minor rusty areas,

I've also removed alot of the seam sealer throughout the bay as under it was lurking various minor rust spots, thankfully just surface.

Also I removed the bracket that holds the jack and wheel brace in place

In my quest for sub a 800kg weight, everything needs to be removed thats not going to serve a purpose.

so, from this

Image

to this
Image

then finally cleaned up
Image

Also need to angle grind this off, where the old battery tray was secured to.
Image

Next weekend I will finish off the prepping, the following weekend all going to plan will be engine bay painting :Q
