k797eoo "2.1zetec turbo build"
Re: k797eoo restoration project
mines been cut around that area so im covering it with a 20x20 chuequer plate square and putting the original bung back in. Just an idea although it may not be to your taste

Feeling that idea, stainless steel plate with self tappers and a hole cut fot the rubber.
Just thought i would add that ive orderd my clutch, helix fast road these can handle up to 270flbs and my engine is only 245flbs so all will be good hopefully and the flywheel has been lightend and balanced, should help the engine pick up a bit faster anybody had much experience with lightend flywheels?

The cheek of it, having my flywheel skimmed! That would suggest that you believe it had made several "enthusastic" starts from junctions!

Re: k797eoo restoration project
Looking good - it's probably best to weld in part of a seat bench from a breaker.
RE: Clutch. 6mm is a lot to take of of the flywheel - hopefully the input shaft will protrude all the way through the clutch splines, if it doesn't it will put uneven loading on the disc.
Have you just test-fitted the kit before painting?

Thats a very good point about the inputshaft, how will i know if its gone through enough? the engine is in the car now the clutch feels ok but like you say the thrust bearing could slip of the shaft wen you press the clutch? will there be any symtoms as theres a brand new helix clutch in there
The kit has been test fitted so i know it will all fit wen i get it back from paint which will be saturday, ive also brought a airtech front mount intercooler and xl rad combo from fordfair sunday, unfortunatly i only have a few pics before it wen to paint, stupid camera.

Look forward to the pics, red is my favourite coliur for the FRST!
RE: Clutch, it's hard to get an idea - maybe you could paint the input shaft, bolt the 'box to the engine, then see where the paint has been scraped off by the clutch plate?

Lucky you having such a shiny, freshly-painted red Mk3! Just what I always wanted! Yeah you'll do well to get any gears with the gear linkage that way round won't you! Coming along nicely

Re: k797eoo restoration project "car painted"
if you have no power to the 2 points where the fuse is, then it could be that a wire has been forgotton, check the earths on steering coloum, and check round the battery for a earth wire thats been missed, i forget it sometimes and i know its there!
