Re: Project "K80" ZT - Meh (22/05)
Got the turbo back today, nice and flat, no blowing now.
I can't see this car being on the road at all this Summer the way it's going...
- Still massively overfuelling
- New water pump's pissing everywhere
- Oil pressure is 80psi idle, 100psi blipping the throttle
Probably just gonna shove it in the garage for now and come back to it at a later date

Pfft, that's nothing really. What are we talking there?
A map should sort the over fuelling
New water pump gasket/water pump
Oil pump?
I can make a list of the things wrong with the Saxo if it makes you feel better...!

sounds like something blocked to me, easiest check is the pick up! worst is taking head off to check the gallies

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Meh (22/05)
Pickup's clean, I did all this when assembling the engine. Even if the pickup was blocked though, wouldn't this cause low oil pressure due to starvation? The more I read though, the more I'm seeing 80-100psi is "normal" for a cold zetec which is odd to me.
I'll try and find some motivation to get under it properly at the weekend. Probably refit the Nissan injectors too, may as well try them since the 440cc ones are too big for what I'm putting out now anyway.

Oil pressure seems fine. Shame about the injectors but as said a good mapping session will sort that.

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Meh (22/05)
Cool, that's good to know. Hopefully will look nicer when it's warmed up a bit. I started to panic as the pressure gauge went off the scale!
That said though, my dipstick is getting pushed out of the tube. No breathers are connected up yet, just open take-offs.
Also, this is how useless the water pump is. Was brand new, new gasket, torqued up correctly etc and this is what it does!

Sure that's the pump and not a hose? When my water pump went it only leaked when the engine was running.

It's leaking down the side of the sump up behind the pulleys, that's the pump The outlet hose is much further forward.

It may be a new pump and gasket, but i'm pretty sure you have to connect it to something to stop it leaking?? everything else looks pretty tidy under there though buddy!!

As already said the oil pressure seems fine. My RS used to run at 80psi on idle when cold. Then went down to 25psi when it was hot.
s**t about the water pump though. These little knockbacks make it all worthwhile when its done.

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Meh (22/05)
To continue the theme of bad luck, I had someone weld a boss into my stainless intake pipe to relocate the Intake Air Temp sensor. Did a cracking job on the welding but somehow forgot to drill the hole out of the pipe for the sensor to go through *migraine*
After some faffing around this evening I managed to get the hole done without damaging the thread too much, end result:
(New phone, new camera!)
Also still trying to work out why my dipstick keeps blowing out the tube? All the breathers are still unconnected open take-offs at the moment.

O-rings? Never seen any I'm guessing they'd be at the base of the yellow handle on it?
Engine came straight out of a mondeo when I got it, water pump went on fine, it's a bit gay.

I'll check that out. I remember It did seem to feel like it "clipped" in though. Hopefully tomorrow and Sunday I can get some motivation and get this stripped down, change the pump gasket and get it all back together and fired up properly once and for all!

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Blue Smoke! (25/05)
Got it running (albeit with a s**t water pump). So far I've discovered:
- It doesn't idle at all. Only a screwdriver in the throttle is keeping it alive, then it falls out and stalls lol.
-The oil pressure did fall back to 30psi once warm so that's a relief!
- The exhaust and chatter sound epic, however, it's in a pretty bad way looking at these:

id speak to a turbo company and see what it would cost to rebuild. is there any chance there is too much oil getting to the turbo/(as in the same as a gt series turbo having a oil restrictor ?)..... oil return ok ? oh and mapping will sort the idle, mine wouldnt idle for s**t lol

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Blue Smoke... (25/05)
The oil return isn't perfect, it does have a very slight kink in it but it's a big hose and there still looks plenty of room for oil to travel down etc.
There's a restrictor in place that I stole from that GT28R that I had briefly. I kept it so I could retain my braided oil feed.
I think the idle is ISCV related, plugging/unplugging it makes no difference lol.
