keeping in contact with the road
just wondering what sort of things can do to keep the car in contact with the road as had a bit of acident as missed a corner in the dark down the back roads and had to chuck it round while doing 40ish still and car slided hit two curbs , left tyre got flappy bit of tyre on it , drivers side curbed as any thing and tyre seems ok , but recon they both not useable , and right wishbone all bent up, so just wondering any mods etc can help prevent the car from slideing in the first place? as would like to make the can handle better and stick to the road more too aswell

Re: keeping in contact with the road
Wider wheels and a decent set of tyres will help, obviously.
I found a rear strut brace made a massive improvement to the handling.

Re: keeping in contact with the road
Its a common fietsta problem, the rear end is so light..
Get it lowered with some decent suspension, wider lower profile tires with lots of grip like toyo proxies or something, then stiffen up the chassis might be a good call with strut braces.

Danny Boy UK :60? Do you have a moped engine or something? haha.
I'm guessing he means 60, as in the road was national speed limit.
Not the top speed of his car.

thats correct yeah
might even invest in some brighter head lights to help see things lol!
im seriously considering taking the car off the road for a few months to get the new wish bone fitted etc and get a few upgrades like anti roll bars and strut braces to help keep the car handeling well.
so the back of the car is the main probiem is it? whats best thing for it to help stoping the rear arse end

Re: keeping in contact with the road
Oh lol, i didnt realise
Theres not alot you can do apart from stiffen it up, or just get a few sand bags in there
Why not just work on the car at the weekends, then you can keep it during the week. Wishbone will only take an hour or so even if you dont know what your doing, suspension takes a few if you go slow, strut braces are 10min job each pretty much, just a couple of bolts really. Front takes a bit longer as it requires some drilling, but still, its not hard.
Does your car not have anti-roll bars then? I thought all fiestas did

I found just lowering my car and fitting my alloys made a massive improvement to the handling.
The tyres on my alloys aren't exactly anything special, but they seem to grip really well

Re: keeping in contact with the road
some fully adjustable suspension, and have the rebound and compression set up, this will keep your tyres in contact with the road as much as possible.
Lower it,
have your camber, castor and toe in checked and set up, stiffen the chassis with strut braces, ARBs, roll cages and stiffening foam in the chassis rails.
lighten the car as much as possible
put decent rubber on your wheels
TBH the list is endless mate, depends on how much cash you have

Re: keeping in contact with the road
Mine has front upper and lower strut braces, rear strut brace and twin rear anti-roll bar. The twin roll bar makes a hell of difference.makes it feel really 'pointy' if you know what i mean. And its stripped out too

I meant lower strut brace, but if you want to be picky it has a anti roll bar too!
But it has the ford item that goes in between both suspension arm carriers and and where the carriers bolt to the chassis rails it has an extra bar bolted in there too, nowt special mate

decent gripy tyres, wider alloys, polybushes, coilovers and a nice but sensible drop and rollbars and strut braces, also uprating the brakes would help aswell mate as in would slow you down quicker.
