Postby Nick 2i on Tue Mar 25, 2003 12:28 pm

considering getting the cams done on my 16v 2i.

It says on the link below that the cams are £155 per pair exchange, is that £155 for two new cams as long as i swap m old ones with them :-?

http://www.fiesta-centre.co.uk/performanceparts/kentcamspage2.htm#zeteccams

also is there anything else i need to buy like pulleys?

ive only really just started looking into this so i dont know much about it!

so any help/advice would be much appreciated :D

Cheers, Nick

its best to buy a kit they replaces the springs and tappets as well as supplying the cams but there about 500quid for a set.
Too old and too bald.

Might be cheaper to track down a 2.0L Mondeo head at the scrappers and get the cams and lifters out of that.

Cheers for the replies :D

Not sure what to do, dont really wanna spend £500 on some cams

2.0 option sounds good, but i just spend £150 getting the cam belt changed today so it would be a bit stupid to get rid of it as i get it serviced it regularly so its in good shape.

are the 2.0 cams the same as the rs1800 ones?! :-?

Appparently it's best to get your original cams reprofiled. The ally cam bearings in the cylinder head are matched to the wear on your cams, and if you stick different cams in the head, then you may end up with poor oil pressure to the cam bearings.

And you must change the tappets for new ones if you have the cams reprofiled.

When you can pick up a complete 2.0, get it fitted *and* pay the increase in your premium for less than it would cost to get new cams fitted, it's not really a hard choice to make... ;)
