Knocking :)

Postby JayC on Thu May 10, 2007 1:08 am

Hi all, Im in the process of sorting my handling out as its my main concern before anything else.

I baught the car for 62 quid and it had done a few miles, the front and rear knocks over every bump.

Well. Ive replaced the droplinks the other day, after a day of them sounding worse the sound is now eliminated from the roll bar.

I have track rod ends, but the seller sent me 2 LH ones and I baught MK4 items.. so a bit of a bodge on both sides there and hes not replying to my emails, but they will be next.

Im getting a pair of areasix lower arms without the balljoints, more for the camber adjust, but I may still use polys im not sure yet.

What shall I do about the rear, My plan was to fit a MK4/5 rear beam and all its gubbins because it will be cheap, but I will be able to find a relativly low milage donor, I could proberly get it for the price of new bushes, that would be enought for the rear, ZS is an option i know but there more expensive and harder to source.

Oh and one more thing, does anyone know if KA/MK4/5 top mount rubbers will fit onto the MK3.5?

I hope you all dont mind helping me out here, cheers. Jay

Cheers Jay, I dunno if youve fitted them yourself..

do you think polybushing the arms will have the same effect on torque-steer as having the ball joints?

Track rod ends arn't handed, are they?
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

I think they are, but then again there strait on the MK3 as ive done the droplinks last weekend and compared, so yeah you could use them both sides.. there angled on the MK4 ones, like a P shape, so only LH and RH :(

stupid. and the ideot who sent me them is just as daft, i clearly stated one per side.
