Kumho or Nexen??

Postby Sound Fm on Tue Jul 10, 2007 2:40 pm

Looking to replace the tyres on my Xr2i but the main problem i'm having is sourcing tyres in the 185/60/13 size.

I was looking to get a premium tyre but my search is proving fruitless. Anyway i've managed to whittle it down to 2 budget tyres, Nexen 641 or Kumho KH15.

Has anyone any experience of either tyre? also are there any other tyres that i should be looking at??

Regards

Steve

They also do trackday tyres in that size.

Both are pony. Change the wheels for some 15's and get some quality rubber on. 2 problems cured with one stone.

well im a tyre fitter and i would not put either on my car they r both crap! (kumh othe better of the 2) but i can get some yokohama a5349 and toyo cf1 ( being a toyo and yokohama dealer) if you are interested?? i will have another look at work 2moz and get prices. but i would either get 14 or 15 inch wheels the handling on you car is a lot better and a lot more options out there.

I have Nexens on my temporary wheels and I personally think they're utter rubbish... They have absolutely no grip in the dry, and in the wet they're evil! I have cheap tyres on my normal wheels, but they're amazing compared to the Nexens.

I had Kumhos on my old 14s, they're not bad but when you put your foot down they spin and when doing it on a corner they just slide out. Alright for dry weather tyres anyway lol.

try http://www.blackcircles.com/

they have a few tyres in your size. But as people have said, it'd be better to just up your wheel size to 15" and get a set of lower profile tyres for it.

Thanks for all the replies people. Am not looking to change the wheel as trying to keep the car as original as possible.

Might plump for the Toyos, used the Proxes on my old Civic and found them to be a really good tyre.

Thanks again for your helpful opinions.

Nankangs :o

I fitted Nankang NS-1's on my A4 and they were terrible. I skipped them after 5000 miles and put some Avon ZV3's on instead. Never was I so happy to get rid of some barely worn tyres and 225/45/17s aren't the cheapest tyres to be doing that with
