One way is to replace the ECU with one that supports Launch control. Check out http://www.dtafast.co.uk for their range of ECU's.

I still haven't attached the sensor to the wheel. The Wiring is in place though.
Then it's full throttle, clutch in, 1st gear, let the clutch out real fast, and sit back and let the ECU do the rest. Wonder if she'll spit flames when on the rev limiter?

Aint it a lot cheaper and simpler to just learn how to use the clutch properly??

I used to no someone with a clio 172 which had a traction control system fitted which had a launch control facility. Not sure on make, but it was not a replacement ecu like the alpha ones. Im probably wrong though.

Launch control is a system that monitors the engine speed, compared against the speed of an un-driven wheel (ie one of the rears) and it works out if you're getting wheel spin from the driven wheels. It normally only works in 1st gear, so its only used when launching the car from a standing start.
If it decides that you do have wheel spin, it reduces the power output of the engine to hopefully eliminate the wheel spin, and so the car accelerates more quickly from a standing start. Specially useful when trying to pull away from junctions in the wet. You can just floor the throttle, drop the clutch (ie slide your foot sideways off the clutch pedal), and the engine management system takes care of the rest.
Some ECU's apply the brakes to the spinning wheel, to lock it, and transfer the drive back through to the stationary wheel. These systems feel quite abrupt, and don't do the transmission a lot of good.
Focuses have traction control built in, though you can disable it by pressing the button, or holding the button down for 10 seconds which disables it for longer periods, as it automatically re-engages after a short while.
Don't practice sliding your foot off the clutch pedal. You may damage the clutch pedal/mechanism. Not to be recommended. Or at least try it in a hire car, not your own

I looked at have Traction control + Launch Control fitted to mine (XR2i 1.8 16v Turbo which is for sale)
The best kit is supplyed by RACELOGIC this kit is tops if you what to read up on it try this link http://www.racelogic.co.uk very expensive though and as it needs abs to detect wheel spin (2 sensors is ok but 4 is best) you will need abs sensors fitting which you get from the RS1800 or zetec, this is a top upgrade once you hit 200hp or 200lb torque but it will cost you!!!
