Lean? Rich? or just cold? Issue with starting

Postby AR-FRST on Tue Jan 14, 2014 5:45 pm

Hi, Only me again.. :-)

I was (seems to of come back) having an issue with the RST.

When it was started cold & taken for a short run (poss nip to the local shop) the Fiesta sometimes failed to start again...

It was set-up on a rolling road (£70) about a month ago & I was told it was running lean.

But.. Its happened again today (Tuesday) I didn't let the RS get to optimum temp. A short (2 mile) drive to a local garage as I had a puncture.. 30 mins after the puncture was fixed the car failed to start again.

I returned to the car some 4-5 hours after the puncture was fixed & nothing.. Grrr :-?

I have removed all but 1 spark plug (can't get my spanner past the cross over pipe) & replaced them with brand new NGK's.. The car still fails to start. I removed the new plugs & can smell fuel. The plugs are not soaked - IMO

I have also added new plug leads.

Any ideas?

Well, you need spark and fuel to get it running.Since you smell fuel I would say that you have fuel injected, but something's wrong with the ignition. For the spark plugs to be wet,the engine will be flooded. Not goodfor starting. Is your coil fine?EDIS module?I would check for blown fuse, and if everything is fine I would try a spark plug out of the engine to see if it sparks when you try to start the engine.Check also the CPS plug and cable. They do sometimes break.

Ive ordered a new CPS & Coolant temp sensor.

Car doesn't have any starting issues when it's got to optimum temp.
