*update 01.04.07*

quick update,The back brakes are now built back up with new bearing, shoes and a new hand brake cable, and we put two of the new tyres onto the rims Although I didn't get any pictures .I also painted my old rear strut brace out of my 1.3 and my new sparco front brace,as I didn't think the red would tie in with the rest of the colour scheme of the car.I also spoke the the engine builders and my head should be ready for mon/tues :Q .cheers steve

**update 05.04.07**

went and picked up my head today from the engine builders after work,I bought the head second hand after it had already had some port work done on it,so it went in for a pressure test and skim. The head was advertised as being a vulcan engineering STG3 big valve head and after stripping it down the valve part numbers matched up to the ones on vulcans site as being oversize and the port work was said to have been done very well from the engine builder I used.I had already got my carbs, so the manifold was sent in aswell to be re-sculptured and port matched to the head. Also managed to spray up my passenger foot rest in satin black to match the rest of the interior parts.comments?

not really an update but the brake lines have now been fitted so were ready to bleed the system and put some new DOT5 fluid in it then we can fit the remaining two tyres and drop it on the floor ready to set the coilovers up.I'd got the seats im going to use a while ago off dan (purple_fiesta) and dug them out of the shed today ready to go over to the car to be fitted. They only weight 9KG including side mounts and subframes so should sacve a bit of weight over standard items,I'd also purchased some brand new second hand harnesses off a member on here to go with them, and i added a couple of ford racing decals to the back.soon be ready to put it in for a MOT :Q

howdy stranger, cheers its getting there just gotta get a fre bits and bats from the scrappy and then start prepping for MOT :Q ,will need a hand after it MOT'ed witha few plans mate.

oggyzetec05 :Are you going for the sleeper look with the 1.0 bumpers??

well Ive put the poverty spec bumpers on for a few reasons, firstly they weight a fair bit less than the SI ones or RS/XR items, and Im aiming for a subtle clean looking car and If i have a prang on the track standard bumpers are a lot easier and cheaper to replace.I'd never achieve the full "sleeper" look with the cage and interior ive got but exteranlly yes it will look like the average 1litre wheezer

quick update.spent a bit of time on the car today to mainly sort out the wiring, first i re-wrapped the wires going to the back of the car for the rear lights ETC,and then wrapped and sorted out the main dash wires so its now a case of fit the stalk and bolt the dash and clock home.At some point I will be making up an ally plate to hold the heater controls and a few other gauges and switches and a plate to block off the end but these are not necessary for an MOT so can wait.As the car is originally an SI it had the spat on the original wing,as the nearside is new it didn't have the holes for one and i didn't want them on so I removed it and welded and filled them.comments welcome :) .

Image
more or less how it will be,prob spray it up matt black and/or get it flocked.
Image
remounted the PATS module out the way under the bulk head
Image
relocated the fuel cut off to the front,to save the wires running across.
Image
A quick pic of the strut tops i painted
Image
bit of filler on the wing to be sanded and painted

cheers for looking,steve

Haven't done anything to the car since the dash,As the weather has been absolutely s**t and I've been snowed under with over time at work :( .Ive sent off for the log book so need to see if they send me one back or say that it needs a VIC check but predominantly the aim is just to get A MOT on it without the "finishing" touches.Had my battery box come through last week,I'd already bought a set of heavy duty 800A jump leads.cheers steve

update 09/06/2007

quick update,My car is stripped out but I wanted it to look slightly presentable so I intended to make up a set of door cards, initially I was going to make them out of alloy but after hearing of a material called foamex I believed it was going to be easier to work with.I picked up a sheet of the stuff and set to making a template out of carboard to be ransferred on to the foamex itself. The doorcards weight under half of the originals but look alot neater than a bare door.pretty chuffed on how they come out, heres some pics comments welcome.cheeers steve

Update time 16.06.07

I didn't fancy leaving the cage exposed inside the car for obvious reasons so I got some pipe insulation from the local plumbing centre 12M of the stuff which is plenty(only neede 6Modd all for £6.77 :D which was alot cheaper then the "proper" stuff.I added a couple of extra bits to the top of the main hoop just as extra precaution,I don't want to knock myself out or leave anything which could potentially harm any passengers so might be a bit over kill.comments Velcome.cheers steve
