Got my window kit through today,And a massive big up to http://www.plastics4performance.co.uk ,stupidly quick delivery and really helpfull with information and general customer service. After chatting to the bloke I opted for "flexiglass" windows, although not as strong as polycarb it has the advantage of being able to polish out scratches over polycarb.Should be able to make more progress next week as I've got a weeks holiday .cheers steve

Quick update of a couple things which has managed to be done in between the fudgekin rain.Got the car off stands and set up the height of the coilovers, but ive set them a bit higher because I suspect they may settle further once driven.I bolted the battery box down in the boot and cleaned up a suitable area for the earthed cable for the battery.I also mounted the fire extinguisher, which is out of the way but still easily acessible should I ever need to grab it quick, and I put on the new rear plate which is only little but seems to really smarten up the back.Still got a few more things to get on with (weather permitting) but MOT is booked for fridaycomment welcome as usual.cheers steve

made a bit more progress today,a kill switch is now mounted in an existing hole in the back,I intend to setup a pull cable system as well which will be mounted beside the drivers seat. The live cable,a black 6metre length of 800 Amp jump lead was ran to the front of the car through the cavity in the seal to keep it out of the way and out of sight. The old battery tray was also removed.cheers steve
the hole slightly modified to accept the kill switch.
the classic "Is there something missing" picture

UPDATE 07.07.07
right after tidying up all the loose ends,ITS MOT'ed,flying colours and no adviseries,im well chuffed.I took it for a quick blip and as expected it completely out drives my 1.3,in terms of the handling and braking more then anything as its only mildly quicker but I reckon it will be fun with the 1.6 on carbs in it.New bonnet is on order, which will then complete the cosmetics of it.The front valance has been ground back but needs welding and treating and will be painted with the wing and door when the bonnet arrives.next stop is getting a VIC check.comments appreciated steve

update 27.07.07
Not a huge update but another step in the right direction.I bought the car with light damage to the near side front which the insurance company had deemed as a write off although it was only needing a new wing and a door,so when I applied for a log book I was informed that it had to go for a vehicle identity check.I spoke to the VOSA people who said to send off my form and that there was a 4 week backlog and the soonest date they had was August 21st which was a bit gay.On tuesday (24th) my old dear rang up to book it in whilst I was at work and was told there was a cancelation for 8.50am today (27th),result!.Was up early doors and blatted down to chelmsford with my uncle on trade plates and it all checked out fine so can send off the paperwork to get the V5C enabling me to tax it.It was the cars first decent run which went almost faultlessly apart from it liking to pop out of second gear,so we have decided to swap the 'box for an S2 RST item when we change lumps, which will hopefully start being reassembled next week in preparation to do so.Took receipt of my fibreglass bonnet last week also .cheers steve
the hinges will be retained at the rear for mounting and will be secured at the front using locking aerocatch items for added security and because they're more subtle than conventional bopnnet pins.
I've swapped the locating pins to the ones pictured from another set of bonnet pins I bought as I thought the alloy ones supplied in the kit seemed a bit flimsy, and that they were a gay red(pink) colour
I added a TRS net in the back to the essentials.map, steering lock, torch, tools ETC

HCS PIMP :nice i love the mk3 standrad bumpers makes it look mean i like what your doing would do the same if not for no money
cheers,I deemed the XR/RS kit unnecesary weight, and everyone has/or puts XR/RS kits on their cars so its cool to do something different but for a purpose.

cheers pimp, still got a few bits to buy for when the engine goes in which will include vibratechnics gearbox mounts.
As its bumped back up thought I'd put a little update on,not much really happening TBH.A while back I painted a few interior bits (footrest, door handles, handbrake cover) which came out faultlessly but after being in storage for a while they picked up scratches,So I decided to get it all powder coated to be more durable but in the same colour satin black.I also was never really happy with the colour of the cover I had done so that was treated a to a coating of satin black aswell to continue the black and white theme. On friday we were down the scrap yard and came across a set of rims, they are stamped up as compomotive "trackstars" in 15 X 7.They're a bit crusty but with no chunks missing or bends in them so I had the set for £30 .Will refurb them in white when I get the chance and wrap them in sticky rubber as track day wheels or swap the tyres over and use them and keep the RS2k wheels as track wheels, undecided.cheers steve

Re: project ASH BLACK,lightweight SI - UPDATE : 16/08/07!
long overdue update on ash black,Right I sold my 1.3 fiesta to my mates little brother who pestered to buy it off me and put AB on the road within a week of him saying he wanted it so no body work/painting was done and the 1.4 lump stayed in,was on the road for all of a month.ive now got a 1.8 focus as a daily driver so AB is a now a toy/track car,the intention is to swap engines to the 1.6 and generally tidy up all the loose ends now that ive got the time ready for april to stick it back on the road for 6 months over summer and do as many trackdays as possible in it.As the car is now a summer car/track toy i can loose some parts which were retained as a compromise for the road,I have spent a good few hours over the last few weeks taking the sound deadening out of it - fuckin baxtered of a job LOL but it is now all out and ive put the first dust coat down on the boot floor,.Its goin matt black to stop reflections and for the simplicity of it over metalic ash black which wont blend in easy. The heater matrix was useless as i had no blower controls anyway so was deemed dead weight and was removed,I had to remove the dash so i gutted that and re-modelled it to loose more plastic just going to block the end off with some left over foamex and have it flocked .I also put a few "speed holes" in the front bumper when i had a minute, loads of stuff i still want to do to it over 2008.comments appreciated cheers steve
before it came of the road, filthy female provider of 'horizontal refreshment'!
crap picture of the bumper
sound deadening out
again
gutted out the heater duct out of the back of the dash
the re-designed dash
