looking at doing a new install
hey guys,
im looking at doing a little install over the summer, involving taking out the rear seats and putting a false floor all the way upto the front seats.
I want to just put a pair of 6x9s into the false floor, and just carpet it, to give it a subtle but effective look.
Is this hard to accomplish? Has anybody done this before, if so have you got any tips for doing it or pics? Finally, how much would it cost, roughly?
Any info would be much appreciated!
cheers, Dunny

i know, mate if youre gonna rip your back seats out you might aswel make a big install or something thats a decent size and not 6x9s, you could just stick 6x9s in the parcel shelf but they sound crap apparently and are a waste

I don't imagine it being too difficult or expensive to do. All you will need is a large piec of wood which will fit across the boot up to front seats, and perhaps some hinges for easier acces to the spare. Also some upright pieces to support the overhangin part in the reat passenger footwell, also probaly anothe peice off wood to seal it off at the end goin down to the floor. Then just trim in your choice of material/carpet.
Still as many have said seems a quite extreme to lose passenger seats for the sake of 6x9s, Do you have no friends? Still if you wanna for it then by all means do.
I've never understood why these professinal 'false floors' cost so much to be honest. My sub is attached a piece of ply wood the size as my boot which keeps it nice and secure woth the original boot felt nailed to it, looks tidy and does the right job, and probably cost less than a fiver. Perhaps i just need to see a pro jobby first hand to see what all the fuss is about though.

DunnysMK3 :im not going to do the whole ICE thing, because i think its pointless tbh. just wanted something that looks nice and simple.
So why bother?
You are taking up all that space, which believe me one day you will want, for the sake of a set of 6x9s. I crossed that bridge when my missus asked me to help move house, except now I have a 12" sub and amp in the boot.
Why not keep your seats and boot and just mount them in an MDF shelf? I really can't see what a whole wooden floor would accomplish. If your mates are a problem, tell them they get a lift when they pay the fuel bills, would solve your problem.

DunnysMK3 :got too many friends, which equals using lots of petrol! thats why i want to get rid of the backseats, so nobody can go in the back! dont know if it will work tbh, but its worth a try
Doesn't work. You need to be harsher on giving our 'free' lifts
