CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Looks like the ball is now well and truly rolling

Postby Project on Tue Feb 25, 2003 2:23 am

Decided today that I will definitely be fitting a turbocharged Zetec 16v engine to the festering shed within the next 12 months (probably before the bodywork is finished).

Currently I have the engine (RS1800 series 1 Zetec), OFAB ECU and loom.

The conversion list currently stands something like this:

Image

Eeep!

I will be using OFAB management with a chip. The current mission is to rebuild the loom - not so easy as I have to track down a company that makes the connectors. Of course, I wouldn't be so bothered about the loom if I hadn't seem Graham B's work of art at http://www.zetecinside.com - git! :D

I'll keep this post updated as things progress.

Al

Ps if anyone has a 2wd Cos intercooler knocking about, could you get in touch please? :) Thx

Greatstuff Project. :)

Just a quickie... do u know or have any idea of the ballpark figure ur aiming for re: power?? This will ultimately determine certain mods as above i.e. Intercooler, exhaust etc. They could save you money but also on the otherhand may up the price range.

In reverse order...

Craig - thanks for the offer but that's a long way off just yet.

Simon - git :P lol

Chumkila - yes ;)

Trekkie - it's using the EFi inlet manifold, hence why I have to get spacer plates made up for it. I think the Pintle holes are the same either way.

Chris - cheers!

Why do you need to modify the conrods to fit the pistons mate?

Dont think thats needed with aftermarket pistons mate

Ah... umm... er... ooo... eee... umm... I *might* go 2.0L for the cost difference, or failing that I will go low comp 1800 and then swap the block for a 2.0L when I want to start playing silly buggers with the power.

Hence why I'm trying to spec everything to be capable of around 280???ish? apart from injectors, blower (maybe) and chip.

To be honest though I haven't given that side of things a lot of thought - I want to built a reliable 220bhp engine but to do that I get the feeling that it's best to build for 250ish brake and then turn the power down, rather than pushing components a bit too much.
