Lost gears ST150

Postby tris on Thu Jan 02, 2014 7:01 pm

Hi all, i have seem to have lost my 2nd 4th and reverse gear ( all on a down throw with the gear lever) in my fiesta st150. i was out driving the other day going up a slip road i went to drop it down in to second but the gear wasnt there, i got the car home with 1st 3rd and 5th. There was no whinning sound before hand and no poping out of gear. the gear lever now when in third looks like its in neutral. It will grind 4th but wont engage. if any one has any idea or has had a similar problem any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Lost gears ST150

Sounds like your gear selector has slipped off the gearbox stud.

If it's anything like a mk3 then get under the car, undo the bolt and move the connector further forward and secure it.
Bit of trial and error will be needed to realign it but sounds like it should work

As said sounds like the gear linkage has come loose or mis aligned, doubt it would be anything internal being it selects the other gears ok. But I thought these had cable shift MTX boxes?

Cables stretch, go out of adjustment. It's not unheard of, even for a cable select box.
Nothing to see here...
