Just recently ive become so fed up of the ford scene, all the bitching, clickyness, bragging, snobbery , daylight price robbery........and i KNOW i aint the only one who has left the scene because of the above, or who is considering doing so too..,why is it being killed from the inside

Had enough of being held to ransom, messed about, chasing dead end leads for parts, and generally just getting nowhere due to the aforementioned issue's, which in turn is making me real sick of persisting trying to save this old girl, and is also killing all the sentiment i have towards her.

Dont want to be a breaker of a classic but tbh the disc cutter is now lurking, and the temptation to jump on the "price's bonanza wagon" is the only real option i can see.....followed by a jump to the dark side of "Evo/Scoob/VAG" or the like, something practical/reliable and to be honest something i can just drive and enjoy, and hopefully like i found from the previous excursion into another marque, find a scene that not only love's its breed, but all of the example's regardless of the cash that's been lobbed or the size of its turbo, just respect for you for saving/owning an example of the marque.

...This is all something i have NEVER considered doing for good, ive always been "blue" through and through and out of maybe 60ish cars...only ever strayed twice, the rest have always been Ford.

Only option's i can see are the above, and or the only thing i can see that will keep me ford are a S1(been the dream since 15 ), sorted out with all my EFI gear attatched, but even then i think the scene in general will turn that sour pretty quick as lbh S1 parts aint exactly common, and all the above will start again...

The thought of cutting her up,and disposing of a FRST is breaking my heart, but leaving the marque/scene..(Que the cheers of relief im sure ).. is a thought im actually really looking forward too, pasture's new as they say.

So what to do........

And sorry for the moan just so downhearted with it all, its here or the misses ear, and thats risky the latter option

i have noticed though that youre right about most of what you've said, i almost went vag due to the availability of parts and prices etc...
plus, as much as it hurts to say, the forums are getting quiter and quiter for fords that ive noticed anyway, people just dont want to spend £££'s on a fiesta or a scrap escort

It must be a Ford thing, theres alot of people commenting negatively on peoples cars, you just gotta laugh it off mate.....its human nature.

I mean when i show my car with the lenghts ive gone to down to little stickers that people wont even see, im expecting all different people to rip it to bits even tho theyve driven into the show in a £50-00 banger....It aint worth taking there opinions to heart, its just some people have the green eyed monster inside them.

Prices will always rise due to rarity and people like me trying to get their car to the best poss state, so they know they can charge the amounts stuff is going for because they know theyll sell it. Its a fact in all different topics from boats to hot air balloons!!!

I know what your all saying, and no Mr jay i owe you a fork and numerous beer tokens so that aint the reason.., maybe one day we will meet(and you Mike )at FF and i pay my debts to you Jay, i WILL DO but alas again it wont be this year.

ive just got to the stage where the buzz, enjoyment, tbh love/patience for it all has just gone.

This old bean can owe's me loads yet looks like s**t, and the list is just endless of what needs to be done for me to get it going, be happy and tbh keep it.
The cost/losses of which i simply cant justify anymore, and along with all the worrie's that come with these cars its becoming to much to think about..
we all seen the theft rates of classic's and thats just another reason along with all the above(and more ) for me its very strongly concluding towards game over.

Might at long last pull it outta storage over the weekend.....................doubt it'll do nowt to stop the final curtain though, opposite tbh

i hear what ya saying mate, although if everyone gave up on classics there wouldnt be any old cars on the road anymore, but some people can stick with it, some cant, which is fair enough.

cars cost enough as it is, maintaining a old car comes at a cost, a cost some people cant/wont live with so i cant blame you for thinking the way you are.

ive ofton thought above moving on from my RS, but for me, its got too much sentimental value, so dont think i could ever sell her, and would be gutted the day she goes by another means, but for now ive decided to keep her going as best i can, which for me, is use her very little, and keep her in the garage.
it contradicts what i have said in the past, and i still maintain such, that a car should be driven other wise whats the point..... but the fact i maintain a MOT ever year on her, as well as full insurance (and paying for the rent on the garage) means shes there but not forgotten, and its simply a trip to the post office for some road tax and i can get her out to play any time i want, so this keeps the interest going, not that i would lose interest, but you know what i mean

i also look at the big end going years ago as a sort of clould with a silver lining, it needed fixing, but also at the same time tipped my hand into spending a bit more and doing a restore, i have has issue since, but over all shes up togeher now, which forced me to keep her like it rather than put her back as a daily driver.

for someone with constant issues with a car that doesnt carry much, if any sentimental value, i can see how easy it would be to cut the losses before they got out of hand.

Fraggle, your 1st paragraph summed up how i felt around 2 months ago, after i got roasted on passionford for a topic i made about vws. Instantly i just seen how cliquey they could be....sorta like the veedub scene. Then i went to the biggest Ford show in Northern Ireland every year, and witnessed it first hand also.

So i just deleted everything from RSOC and passionford that i contributed (as they are the main ball bags) and i feel no love for Ford anymore. Im currently having an engine bay and underside resto done, and when completed it will be re-advertised and if not sold, i will store it and re-sell in a while!

I was with the Ford scene years ago and left to try the citroen saxo/pug 106 thing and realistically the 106 owners are utter fags and the saxo boys are actually really sound. You get accepted, with no cocky attitudes etc.

Maybe you should buy yourself a cheap and sorted saxo vts and have fun driving it and have enjoyment with others who appreciate your enthusiasm!! How can you be enthusiastic when there is wan-ke-rs and "experts" critisising your every move/idea!!

i did , i used to go to fiesta in the park untill it went poop and stopped being at donigton PARK , dont really see the point of slateing completley standard cars that there dads have on finance for them with a halfords air freshiner in the window and these kids trying to say its modified and 200 bhp cos' the windows bin tinted 'blood'

It is purely all the above reason's that i 1st listed, its just become too much to keep getting wound up over, just want to enjoy a car, and not get all the above probs just because its 20+yr old and has RS ont boot

Anyway's i had her out yestday, in between family visits and cider, and guess what................Hated the sight of it

So decision has been made, unless something radicul happens in the next week,,an all my above reason's disapear then she will be going, broken down, sold in bits, and cut up for panels..had enough of my sports s**t an all so thats being listed very soon too.

Sad time's for me but tbh its the right time to do what i should have done a Looooooooooooooong time ago...Move on.

And FAO Maxwell.... not ever owned a saxo, but can say genuinely, they aint that bad a car to drive, just a shame they have the "rep" they do much the same as fords do.
