Low compression pistons?????

Postby fiestadave58 on Thu Mar 03, 2005 2:34 am

Hi everybody, I just read on another site that by installing low compresion pistons in your engine you lower the compression in the cylinder and thus reduce the total amount of bhp produced from your engine.

Is this true and if so what will a bog standard fiesta rst produce with low comp pistons???

Cheers

Low compression pistons are used to lower the compression ratio to allow for higher boost pressurse in most instances. True, lowering the compression ratio reduces power, but that isn't the reason for doing it. If boost is increased too much on the standard compression ratio, detonation will occur.
