lowered problems

Postby Jonezy on Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:47 pm

hey i finally lowered ma fiesta 60mm on spax srings and shocks, av got 195/45/15 tyres on and im getting some rubbing somewhere. i think its on the top of the arch (the bit you can see from the side of the car) and the arch liner on full lock. how do i stop this. will get tting it tracked help. i was told it might not need tracking, just run it for a few das and see if your tyres start to feather, getting none of that so any help plz.

Change the springs for some not quite so silly 30mm items. Mine is dropped 60mm at the mo (as the springs were in my spares box) and it has done nothing to help the way the car drives. Every time I hit a bump my man boobs jiggle

If you really want the 60 mm take th ewheel off and have a look at the arches you will prob find a smoothed off section where the tyre has been catching. (usually on the arch liner retainer in the top centre of the front arch)

I find its usually the end of the tread on the tyre that rubs on mine. It will soon rub itself clear of the arch.

Get the wheel off and get your head under the arch first to see what it is you ar emaking contact on. It might be a nice simple fix.

You shouldnt get any rubbing with that set up unless you have the wrong offset on wheels what are the wheels you have??

Ive got a FRST, its lowered 60mm, with 15's 45 profile, and its catching on the right handside when i turn to the left at about half lock to full lock, i have had the wheel off to have a look and you can see some marks on the arch liner, but i cant see why it would be rubbing?? any suggestions?? i was thinking bout getting a spacer??

i still have no idea why mines doing it on the left only. the slightest bump or turn on the lft and it squeals. if its rubbing on the outer arch spacers wont do much

youd be surprised how much spacers actually help with rubbing wheels

anyways lowering that much will be a right Bic™ on your wheels geometry
get them tracked and set up properly dont go to some dodgy back street garage

what you mean closer to the arches youll be mving them away from the arches with a spacer

o well anyways depending on how badly its rubbing you want about 3-8 mm

ive got mine dropped -60mm on 15" rims with 195/45/15 tyres.it scrubs on the turn of the wheel and when going round some corners at speed and i scrape my exhaust on most speed humps.but it will,so as i do just live with it.you have to allow for certain things if you modify a car.or just go to poofy -35mm springs
