Lowering suspension

Postby rosscopsey on Thu Dec 20, 2007 8:38 pm

Hi all,

What suspension kits/ coilovers does everyone use on there frst's?

Im looking for a drop off around 50mm. Ive seen that lowering springs will only drop the car by 35mm.

Im workin on a budget so cheaper the better.

Any information would be gr8.

Cheers Ross

Time for my broken record bit.

50mm is too low and fucks up the way the car drives and handles and typically leaves you with less grip due to the steering and suspension geometry being put too far out of kilter. Stick with a 35mm drop.

If your dampers are in goo dcondition (ideally new) a set of 35mm springs works very well indeed and will give an improved handling car whilst returning some degree of ride comfort. Avoid G-Max as they are iffy verging on dangerous.

What is your budget?

Unless teh car is going to mostly used on track I wouldn't recomend coilovers at all. At that money you should be looking at a Koni Top adjustable kit (dampers set quite soft) which is a superb kit and highly rated by those in the know.
