Lowering The CVH Engine in prep

Postby StreetDragster on Mon Jan 05, 2004 8:16 pm

Hi All,

I've been advised to lower the engine when i put a 2000cc zetec into the car as the cross over pipe apparently touches the bonnet when installed as normal. I've been advised to do this using 10-12mm spacers between the engine/gearbox cradle and the body, and use 10-12mm spacers between the suspension cross member aswell.
Now the gearbox is currently out as the car is getting a clutch change and i have some time on my hands waiting for parts, would there be any adverse effects of lowering the parts as mentioned on the CVH engine? What about the engine mount on the LH side of the engine bay (when looking from the front)

Just looking for something to do really :) Would it be a better idea to have the spacers made for all the parts but not fit them just yet?

Thanks

Matt

You need 8 spacers dude, also im not 100% sure if the mounting holes on that engine mount your on about need drilling 10mm higher to compensate for the drop :-?
If your stuck for the spacers give me a shout

cant you just mount the crossover pipe lower instead of lowering the whole engine? seems a bit drastic to me and the 10mm spacers are asking for trouble!

But then again what do i know? seriously i know nothing

Matt

P.S Does anyone know if you have to lower the LH side of the engine, or can you just lower the engine cradle on the RH side?
