Lowering

Postby hudz_si on Sun Feb 19, 2006 1:03 am

I'm thinking about lowering, but I've noticed a problem. It seems that with my Fiesta the height of the car at the back is a lot higher than the front...So if I lowered 40mm my Fiesta would still look like it's nose diving! Just wanting to know if anybody knows of a company that will supply springs + shocks with different heights front and rear? Or am i looking at a custom job/order?

This is a pic of my Fiesta so far, so you can see the stance of the car.

Thanks

Mine was like that before i dropped it. I lowered it 40mm and now it seems the rear sits lower then the front.

did u just use springs to lower it with normal ford shocks or did you use special shorter shocks?

some adjustable coil overs will sort the problem out, you'll be able to lower the back more thant he front if there's stil a problem, but they cost quite a bit!

haha yeh coilovers are perfect but would take me about 6months to save...2problems, Im a student and i only have a part-time job.
I may just get some springs for now and use on standard shocks, or maybe just a cheap suspension kit, and then see what happens to the stance of the car.
thanks for the comments tho guys :)

I used just a spring kit with the standard shocks. I would give it a blast and see what you think after that.

use the standard shocks and fit a set of lower springs to them it will sit either level or slightly lower at the back most fiestas are higher at the back in standard trim

Mines lowered 60mm all round and it sits higher at the back, the idea is that with 3 people in the back it will need some extra give otherwise they will be sitting on the floor! It seems lots of people take a coil out of the rear springs but my judgement is that is a BAD IDEA.

To be fair you want the back slightly higher than the front as it will help prevent the weight transfer to the back wheels when launching and will help retain traction.

40mm gmax kit was perfect on my si
you normally find some people have been sold the wrong spring kit thats why they sit lower on the front,

x-factor motorsport are the ones to deal with,
they understand the difference between mk3 and mk3.5
