M442 FGV - RS1800 - Modified (PROJECT)

Postby Xr2i-Fiesta on Mon Jun 14, 2010 3:52 pm

Hi their, my names alex and this is my project thread for my RS1800.
She's a 1995 fezzy mk3.5 in tourmallard green...

I bought the car with a few bits already fitted such as:
RS2000 rims
Ashley 4-2-1 manifold, decatted stright through backbox with 2.5" pipe
Superchipped

The car was even featured in Performance Ford by the prev owner with rollin road print out of 147bhp at the flywheel :D

So with that in mind, everythings got to be pukka and working 20 odd hours a week at the work house aka JD Weatherspoons and at the college the rest... Funds are certainly tight but, eh one day i may acheive what ford should of done :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here she is at home on axel stands...

I painted the underneith with black hammerite in order to reduce rust...
I've also replaced the track rod arm balljoints, stabliser links and pretty soon going to be putting in brand new Spax (along with my 35-40mm lowering springs), ST150 brakes, goodbridge braided lines and a sparco strut brace :D

Heres a pic of my lowering springs painted up in audi laser red
Image

As well as all this, i've also been putting in a hell of a lot of chrome/stainless steel as many of you have noticed
Image

and here is a picture of my new wheel, and speed incorporating a satin finish bezel, lockwood white dials and of course blue bulbs in the speedo and elec window switches...

Cheers :D

Well i got ST150 brakes that are going on after i've sprayed them blue, also got a sparco brace and goodbridge braided lines asoon as they arrive in the post :D .
Then it's just a case of putting my brand new shocks back on, then i can get her off the axle stands, and replace the windscreen :( *couple of chips* and then do the cambelt, oil change... :D

After that will jack up the rear end, fit the rear brake lines, take the rear shocks off and fit a rear strut brace :D

Then going to spray up a RS1800 bonnet because it's got a few chips, fit shinny bonnet raisers and colour code some morrettes :Q .

All that i've got in progress, it's just whenever i got time...
Then it's just a case of saving up for the other bits i want... :D

Compomitive MO5's in White
Recaro front seats, with head rests in rear (all retrimmed interior in leather *if i can get some CHEAP*)
Also going to retrim the door cards (black leather) < going to get a mate to retrim it cos he's good at sewing
Also spray up parts of the dash in siliver (only the air vents and centre part of the dash).

That way i'll have leather interior with silver to brake it up a litte.
Also saving up for a Dimma Show Cage

Was also thinking of tinting the rears, and putting in 7.5" front comps (got the pockets already) and getting a decent sub build in the back... Then it probs going to be " SAVE, SAVE, SAVE until get enough to do something better with the performance as theirs no point just dropping in a standard 2l... Might as well have a well tuned 2L for the effort of fitting it...

Thing is, i really want it too look like all the mods have been thought about. Otherwise it looks really chavy, so i want it too look fairly standard... As ford did a good job, they just missed out a couple of good points (2l turbo  )

Sadly progress has been slower than i wanted :( .

Had a order with autotint for a sparco brace, 120quid touch... paid for it and everything only to find their out of stock and the product line is discontinued. So i phoned everywhere and the only place that actually has one wants £240 quid :aaah:

and thats the thing, fitting a strut brace was the hole reason i took everything apart... The braces make such a huge difference to handling it's unreal, but £240 quid :aaah: .

Anyway, what every fiesta owner should have
Image

My st150 discs/calipers which i painted blue,

Image

My air vents that took a day to mask and spray  Just wish a had a better camera cos they are actually mint!
Image

and course my brand new shocks with painted springs :Q
Image

Just need that strut brace now!!! lol
and also learn how to resize on here

 thats nasty!
It reminds me of this winter, i was driving an escort at the time and had a coolant pipe come loose off the matrix, where the plastic bit sticks through the bulkhead. Was putting water through the system, while lying on my back on a sheet of freezing cold ice :( :( :( :o

Cars finally on the deck, with the s/brace, shocks, brakes all fitted and looking good. Going to put a lot of stuff on hold until after the MOT as working constantly :( Atleast i can still keep collecting stuff

Got some very nice stainless steel dome nuts off ebay, they where cheap but it's a really good touch ;)

I've been a bit slow getting anything done recently. Had some major set backs such as MOT needed weilding o.0. The rear sill had a little hole in it and of course, as you know it always get worst when you start pulling off bodykits lol. Costed me an arm and a leg but got a new sill put on and also discovered why it rusted out so quickly.

The sunroof water get aways pipes run directly down the the side of the bodykit and of course the water just pooles! Hence why we all get rusted arches on XR2i/RS1800 where as the basic fiesta's never rust as much. So i blame FORD. No other manufacturer would do something like that, except those who on purpose put a lifetime on their cars which is what ford did. They engineered an expiry date :x !

So one of my next plans, is to extend the pipes so that they run to the rear wheel and not into the arches :) .

Otherwise, heres a quick update.

I think the air vents compliment the interior but any comments and suggestion are welcome :D

Postby Xr2i-Fiesta on Mon Dec 13, 2010 3:33 am

Just realised i havnt updated this in a LONG TIME :D
First of all, for some reason photobucket isnt resizing my images, arghhh... I'll try sort it out later...
I've done a ton of stuff, mostly annoying little tasks...

Dimma show cage in, looking rather cool i do think :D

Image

Recaro's in... But i've since changed the door cards to matching trim :D
As well as that i've replaced the door lock catches to chrome plated ones and chromed the inner seat belt rails.

Image

I've got the front brakes sorted, also i painted up the rear drums but after the handbrake seized i just went all out and replaced it all with fiesta frenzy rear discs. Special thanks to JayRS for his help as i would of spent many more hours trying to get the right cable/fit it correctly. It really was a nightmare!

Image
Image

I've still got to fit an escort brake servo, when it finally arrives  . But it should help raise the brake pressure but their okay atleast for road use...
Bearing in mind when i'm now driving my rs1800 i'm driving a 106 with a leaky sunroof, broken speedo, seats that don't lock into the runners, broke the wiper stalk off etc. Well i can't be arsed with it, i bought it to use in the winter and it's all fallen apart in a few months and not worth putting through a MOT so just got to carry on driving it until Feb  .

Just looking low-ish

Image

Hammerite Smooth :Q

Image
Image

Rear strut fitted

Image

At the moment i'm working on buying some roose motorsport hoses, working on a custom intake pipe *top secret*, custom exhaust manifold :Q , a few little shinny bits and sorting out a RS turbo bonnet :D

I've just to get the car running as it's randomly stopped. Changed sparks, changed the ignition coil/ht leads to spares i had and going to test tommoro *fingers crossed*. Also about time for an oil change, it's been errr a while

Finally the cars running. i called out a auto electrition who was charging £60 pounds per hour. It's almost as much as David Camerons on :o then the guy tries charging me for two hours when he was drinking tea for the first hour. So he agree'd to just the one hours work and said he would send the ecu off to be checked, so i'm like ok and the c**t ran off with my ecu for a 6 weeks  tryied charging me for delivery back to mine and when i said i'd pick it up kept on giving me random places around 30 miles away from mine. fudgekin c**t. If anyone see's Hawk Auto's in Bournemouth, avoid big time!

So finally got it back and put it in myself, plus new spark plugs, ht leads, ignition coil, ignition relay.
and it works :D However i think the issue is still there as i did check everything so maybe what got wet has dried  .

heeman10 :Don't you just love how the Recaros look and feel? :)

yup i love them.
