Major Headache

Problem or technical question?

Major Headache

Postby ben17southport on Sat Jun 01, 2013 2:26 pm

Right lads, been cracking on with my 1.4si to 2.0l conversion.

Was hoping it would be a bit more straight forward for me but as per it's not.

Wiring and a few other things so i'll post some pictures and write up what i need to know then see who can work their magic ;)

First off is this... i believe i didn't have one previously so just wondering if i need one now and what it is exactly?
Image

Next is a plug that is on the fuel railing loom. No idea where it goes as there are no more terminals near to it.
Image

Next is a bit that is connected up to the carbon cannister thing (solenoid or something like that)... There are two terminals in the back of the air inlet, which side will this connect up to and do i just block the other off (which i believe is for the egr)
Image

Finally, the Wiring from the start motor to the alternator. I have lives from the battery going to the stater motor and then another live going from the starter motor which joins two seperate lives going to the alternator as per pic.
Image

I have a blue cable (which connects to the loom near the gear box reverse light plug), but i am unsure as to where the other end connects up to. Im sure it is for the starter motor but on my 1.4si it connected to the alternator?

Any help will be highly appreciated. My brain is much atm whilst trying to figure out the wiring over on the fiestaguides bit.

Thanks

the blue wire goes to the alternator,it controls the battery light on the dash. not sure on the two lives going to the alternator :-? the first pic shows the edis, map sensor ,co pot on the bracket at the back of the engine bay.was the car originally efi? . spare plug near the inlet wouldnt be for the idle valve would it ? think its just under the throttle body. as for the canister thing i wouldnt have a clue lol

Ok thanks Jon. Been looking for a wiring diagram to make it a little easier but i can't seem to find one!

idle valve already has one in :(

it was originally yes. Guessing that means there wasn't one beforehand?

Rick, I've been told that for me to remove that would make the car run rough?

thanks so far guys
