Making a 2.0 go faster?
Just playin with afew ideas
Before I start a turbo is out of the question, I don't want one!
Now I am looking at new cams and a superchip but was wondering what kind of power I would gain and at what cost.
I basically want as much horsepower as I can get for the least money possible so I am after a good horsepower to £ ratio on mods really.
Its a series 1 zetec (DOHC on the top) with a full mongoose system.
Thanks

Also, if your going to get cams, while u have the head off, get it ported and gas flow'd. That will get the cams working really well with the head. As others said, some form of chip. Im going to get a unichip in a few months. Im also getting the head and higher lift cams for my zetec.
After that, if u really wanna get it reving better, lighten and balanced bottom end. That wont cost to much if u take all the parts out and take them to a place that does this. Probley 80 quid max for them to balance the lot and u put them bk.

keep the cams and get some serious head work done.
Also fit ARP rod bolts so the engine can rev a bit higher.
Also think about getting rid of the standard inlet manifold

Too old and too bald.

ok I am gettin too many ideas now!
Hows this for a plan?
Kent or Piper cams
Head work done
Bottom end balanced
Air filter (probably K&N)
ARP rod bolts
Now would you says that about £1k or more?
And any estmates on power gains? (aiming for 30-35Bhp more)
Thanks for the help so far! given me some good ideas!

this is what ive done and im expecting 160+ after mapping,
2.0 16v Zetec
Raceline Stg2 Head
Raceline Stg2 Matching cams
Raceline Decked block 11.1 compression
ARP Con Rod bolts
Uprated Valve Springs
Trust Electrical Exhaust Manifold
Dunnel Lightened and balanced Flywheel
Vibratec gearbox mounts
B&M Short shift kit
BMC Carbon Fibre induction kit
Magnex full system incl de-cat with 4 inch backbox
dont think u will get all that for a g though. I havent had mine mapped yet and it feckin flys, it has way more than enough power for everyday use and still drives well smooth. If ur ever in my area i can take ya for a spin and show u what u wud get for ya money. But in all honestly if ur after big power turbo is the way to go, i went n/a cause i wanted relibility, drivability, good fuel bills and an engine thats able to take a beating and not be fragile.

oh yea theres no point balancing the bottom end as i was gonna get this done but Jay(XFactor) advised against it as Raceline had said there is no need as the zetec engine is very well balanced anyways.

Get the bottom end balanced as a unit with the clutch cover plate and flywheel. Chances are the cover plate will be a mile out. I'm busy building my engine so have had this done. I'm busy porting the head with my trusty dremel at the minute aswell. Dont have a clue what the power difference will be but its had oversized pistons, and 40thou skimmed off the top of the block. Not much else you can do. As i'm doing the porting myself I have saved a lot money on that, but just the engine work alone has toched on 1k
