Making room for a T3 turbo

Postby goglahey on Mon Mar 29, 2004 12:26 pm

Pic request!!!

I'm going to move the radiator to make room for a T3, and therefore removing the lock for the hood and going for racing "clips" to hold the hood.

Do anyone have pics of this mod.?

Cheers!! :D

This any help...

I had a standard rad in before I got this rad fitted, had to pull the bottom side out next to the intercooler to stop the actuator hitting it.

I took the upright bar off the bonnet latch, but am putting that back on now I have replaced the standard frst with an uprated slimline one
Car is back...

I was just wondering where i can buy slimline rad.

And don't the rad get alot of heat from the turbo, or don't that matter?

only pic on my comp at the mo, u don`t need to loose the bonnet catch, just mod it, make new lower rad mounts and weld them in, main problem is enough clearance so when the engine twists under the torque the turbo don`t hit the rad, heat aint a prob, suggest u use uprated gearbox mounts aswell..

most i`ve managed is just over an inch clearance, and keeping the standard catch, this is plenty of room :)

I've made the following mod..

Moved the underside of the rad forward about 1 1/2 inch..

The rad is just free of the bonet catch (1/3 inch, just enough so it won't hit)

Modded the bonnet catch support.. so it's 1 1/2 inch more forward (bit bending.. and using a spacer made by a piece of copper pipe..

I drilled the bonnet catch support. . and drilled the bottom part (flange) of the rad.. put a bolt thru and thru.. and fixed it using some rubber rad-fixing point rings.. works great .. and still having a bonnet catch support
