Manifold for XR2i

Postby Fletcher on Mon Jul 22, 2002 4:18 pm

i am looking to get a bit more out of my 2i, at the min it is standard except a full magnex system and a K&N, i was considering an uprated manifold however i have been looking through a few mags and there doesnt seem to be anyone who does one,

so is it worth it? and who makes them? :-?

I think a cam or modified head or both will give you much more power, than a four branch :)

i think no 1 duz 1 4 the xr2i [ERRR] the 1 on is good at it's job
and if u put a 4,2,1 u will get more bhp at the top revs
but b down on bhp at top reves or a 4,1 will give u more low down bhp
but u will b down on the hight reves
(thats wot CCC say)
.it is one part of the car that has 2 b spot on or u will b down on bhp all over the revs.
i think some 1 like jamspeed can make u 1 but it will cost lots.

p.s that 4 the 8v 2I

XR2i 8v exhaust is perfectly designed and is best left alone. Free flow panel filters, head work and cams will reap the biggest benefits, as will a capacity increase.

Exhaust manifold

Ashley competition do the whole system manifold back, fiesta centre do it for £199. For £20 more you can have a 4" tailpipe.

This adds BHP with my cam (Kent CVH34) I gained 13bhp.

I have been told that the standard manifold is better for the car as no aftermarket system have beaten the flow of the standard manifold.

Although when chipping it (eg UNICHIP) you can have the aftermarket manifold mapped in the ecu.

Plus one final point always go for the 4 branch systems as these flow better than a cast manifold.

cheers matt.
