i just think your a bit to quick to brandish the car as "chavvy" or whatever, Actually look into them read the reviews look at the videos, its a french revvy engine on wheels basically and the vtrs are so restrictive, with a Group N exhaust, Vts/Raceland forced induction and a rallye box they fly for a 8v'er

well dont blame me for this because you brought chavv up

but yes theyre awfully chavvy simply beacuse its a chives first choice, i dont like them for other reasons too

i dont need to look them up, ive driven one a few times, my mate owns one, he has a decat exhaust and a crappy filter on it

its still s**t, theyre slow, unreliable, handles like a boat, dont particually look good, interior is pants and did i mention unreliable?

his powersteering pump (electric btw) gave up on him constantly, int he end it was because everytime he switched the heater fans on, it would pop the pumps fuse, which is tucked away in the most silly place you need to be anerexic (sp) to reach into.

if your going to have a saxo, you might aswell go for the best one avialible, the VTS

id take An Si over a vtr 100 times over (Si because its the next suitable match)

crap im not helping this thread, again

sorry bakewell

You want to pay the 4k insurance for a vts?

Handle like a boat? mate seriously give up.
And also regarding reliability it happens with all cars, they say zetecs are reliable, most are but then didnt you buy a new head because you popped a hg? all cars have the pro's and con's, i think the chive label is slowly wearing off but then you seen the amount of chavved up mk3/4/5 and zs? any cheap car will be a chives first choice.

lol nope, i swaped a catless cat downpipe (i know stupid, i should have bloody checked somehting was in there llama)

i swapped it witht he head back at the breakers i bought the cat from, i popped the gasket ragging the s**t out of it trying to race a golf, which i won btw :P

no supprise there, it could happen to any engine, the 1.8 was on 74k atm (80k now) and i replaced the ehad gasket after driving it for a further week, it still had all the power as before, just was using water and white smoke from the tailpipe, didnt buy a brand new head no (still have the one i bought infact :P never fitted it)

give up on what? have you driven a VTR? they do handle like s**t, soft floppy suspention, compared to my mk4 at the time it felt like it was going to capsise (sp)

oh also theres no sayiong you have to get either a saxo or vts at this moment, id like an frst but again, could never afford to so i wait

Every think ive read says otherwise, the vts/vtr/gti/clio sports are the best handling cars imo.
vtr is 100bhp standard (Mk2) is heavily restricted via breathing so it wouldnt outshine the vts so to say, i think with the mods ive said and a rallye gearbox it would be circa 115 i think and being a 8v on a short throw rallye box it will fly

At least it wont rust

not to be predantic, but the vtr 8v puts out two forms, one 98ps and the other 90ps roughly

Parkers say 100bhp mk2 vtr and 120bhp for the vts.
Also a saxsport exhaust is proven to give you 111bhp from the off.

Track car is coming along nicely, strangely my Saxo went off to live life as a track car (some of it did anyway  ).

From my experience they are perfect track cars, in 2 years of driving mine hard I only had one problem and that was a snapped drive shaft (was a quick take off)

Interesting on the speed is my VTS felt about the same as the 2.0 before it, but I did get a run with a 2.0 with had been RR'd at 136bhp and there was nothing in it, as we where on public road we didn't push corners too hard but agreed the Saxo was the better. Shame I never got eh Saxo on a RR but it only has a magnex catback and simota induction and it kept up with the above so I would guess it was around 130bhp which would fit with other reports.

Not sure if I miss the Saxo or fiesta the most really, both were great in there own ways, but for a track I know which I would go back too without a doubt.

There hasn't been any exciting updates lately unfortunately... We never made it to any 2010 track days so there's no good pictures of the car! The mechanical side of things is now sorted as I braved the snow to refit the hub/strut, after having a new wheel bearing fitted.

I am tempted to paint the wheels a lairy colour soon though, probably not before Xmas however.

I'll pop over soon when the car is clear from spares and take you for a spin, although that's not even simple because the battery is dead :(

I think the problem with the colour of the wheels with your car is the colour of the car itself makes it very hard to do anything other than the usual silver, white or dark grey/black, etc.

May be a light bronze or champagne sort of colour, but I can't think of anything bright and funky that will work :(

I'm having that exact problem deciding, which is why they are still silver at the moment! :lol

They will probably end up going white or black, just to stand out a little more than standard.
