messed up with front components

Postby getsmefroma2b on Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:01 pm

i bought a cheap set of front componets,

i stupidly took the advice from my sisters boyfreinds who said the best place would be the roof, so now i have roof mounted tweeters.

problem is you turn them up so much and the tweeters hurt your ears while you cant even hear the door woofers.

so i wanna change it.

option one move tweeters into dash leaving large holes in my roof, or paying large price on buying a new roof lining

option two buy new tweeters leaving old tweeters in roof to cover up holes.

option three leave tweeters there, ignore the cross over and amp the woofers, and run the tweeters of the head unit so the woofers can turn up louder.

dont really know what would be best?

Tweeters in the roof. I want some of whatever he's been smoking

Th etweeters in the roof will, as you have found, sound nasty. Either cover or replace the roof lining and mount the tweeters on the dash. You still won't want them running too hard as they can still sound too harsh in this location. iirc the absolut ebest posotion for teeters is about 6" from the mid/bass cone

You have my full permission to slap your sisters boyfriend really hard round the chops with a wet cod.

Do you listen to music with your ears or your eyes? No point it looking nice if it sounds pants.

With regards to repairing the roof you'r probably stuck with having to replace it with a new lining.

I mounted my Kickers in the dash when I was doing the swap. Can't get in there too easily with the hole cutter normally as the windscreen gets in the way.

Sound ok and look pretty acceptable too.

What colour is your car mate. I have a royal/electric blue retrimmed headlining that you could have for £25 collected. It did have a rover interior light in the middle behind the sunroof handle for rear seat passengers but I dont have the light but these are easily sourced. Or you could fit a flip down tv ;)
