Its a different way of putting it though isnt it?

So your trying to s**t us all by saying that your grandad will drive it more than you, and it will park on his drive etc?

tons of people do it mate, they all say it too,
ive got a car, its in my dads name, im a named driver on his policy covering my car, but i drive it to college every day , my dad uses is to get me from town whem im on the piss

some companies literally wait outside your house for 24hours or so waiting to see who drive the car the most, and when they see its not the elderly chap on the policy they dont ask questions :oooh:

So... Your grandad is gonna be the registered owner (v5) and the policy holder (insurance), you're gonna be a named driver but he's gonna drive it as much as you? No insurance company will buy that. Especially as it's a modified car, they'll look at your grandad and his age, look at the car and void the policy in the event of an accident or routine check. I don't see how 3/6 points, £200 fine, £150 recovery fee and £15 a day storage can be cheaper than a months insurance payment either? especially as the 3/6 points will send your insurance even higher come renewal! (and yes I know what I'm on about, I've seized a few peoples cars ;) ) And yes, you can chose the main driver on the policy, but again, they start asking questions when it's not the same as the name on the v5.

Sorry mate, but it's a stupid idea and one that can potentially get you in a lot of s**t! If you can't afford it properly, don't bother doing it at all, it's just not worth the crap it can cause!

It's not modified :s I know what you're saying, and thinking about it sensibly, it's not a good idea.

But it's the only I'm going to get to drive
And it's only for a year, I'm getting a full time job soon, and I'm going to start to save up for my own policy.

I've worked too hard to get it, and repair it
To be f**cked over with a ridiculous premium, so I'm afraid, when it is time insure it it's going to have to be that way, unless by some miracle the whole system gets changed

nevermind the black, the RS wheels aint standard :P

persojnally i still feel the same way as i first did when you said your getting the car, why get a Zetec S at the age of 19 with only a part time job

Si i can understand because theyre alot less of a insurance group (i dont know what the new group for each is as theyve all changed, used to be Si 16v a Group 8 and Zetec s atleast a 11)

now your sinking deaper and deaper into money issues with it, my advice sell it or put it aside and drive something cheaper for the year, and project this one, a 1.3 frascati would dot he job perfectly :)

my 19 year old brother is going through the same situation with insurance.
he is currently paying out £330 a month insuring a 1.6 2003 renault megane

All insurance has gone up and it will go up again come june.

but in your case you must be mad owning a zetec s and cant afford insurance for it.
why not get a 1.25 or something with less bhp to bring the group down a bit ??? :-?
i have been told by insurance companies a fiesta is caterised as a youngsters car so puts up premiums :(

When I got it, could afford to insure it, my jobs turned out to be a complete s**t!

It's in 8e Jon, same as yours...

I'm going to be able to insure it as soon as all the repairs are done, it's just at the moment looking poo, I'll be able to sort my insurancee out without my parents help, but these ideas come into my head and I'm like a kid "OMG I'M DOING THAT NAO!"

But once I think about it, I'll sort out the correct way to go about it, and it'll be sorted
