Mike's Azura.... RIP
Decided to start a new thread without the mess. as after taking it out for a drive last night and after a long chat with more than one person, i've been convinced to keep it.
Right, 1994 NReg Fiesta Azura, 1.1l
i bought it with the intentions of destroying the 1.1 immediately and putting a 1.8 zetec in it. i then decided i wanted it gone because the engine wouldn't blow ( ) and ran out of money so i put up with the slow car, because im impatient as fcuk i toyed with selling it etc...
At the moment its on 40mm springs and rs turbo shocks, with steelies.
My plans are;
FRST interior (GOT)
FRST front brakes/servo.
RS2000 Alloys
Escort GTi steering wheel
Coilovers
Strut brace all round
Rear Pop Outs
1.8 zetec (130 spec if pos) (GOT rs1800)
Polybushes all round
Zetec s Rear Beam (GOT)
Good stainless system. (GOT)
no s**t now, its happening.
here are some pictures of the car!
i fitted these
this is how it sits now
then machine polished the whole car
and all the paint looks like this
its paydey nex wednnesday and there will be updates then!

Good choice its a great shell, all the best start you'd need, just needs converting to si spec for arbs and a zetec engine
don't bother with a rs servo, its no different to your own

Sadly, I'm not holding out any hope of this happening.
If it does though, it'll be a great little car, especially as its such a clean shell

no the best idea, as the loom is different :/ engine and gearbox will fit though
(mind tbh your best finding a regular 1.8 escort as its less likely to have been ragged in its life, all mk6 escorts have the same 1.8 in them)

no just dont get the loom out of a escort as it will be different, will likely have air con, and different connectors here and there
get the loom from a zetec'd mk3 fez, and then get a mk1 mondeo 2.0 ecu, as RS1800 CULT ecus are hard to find

Re: Mike's MK3.5 Sleeper.
you'd be very lucky if you got all that for £130, ecu alone is worth over £50, loom is around £30, but that would all fit straight into your car, and it would be a cult ecu, so perfect for your N reg
its not top speed id be worried about with a 1.1 box, it would feel s**t compared to say an Si box, and would rev high in 5th at 70 so crap mpg, but you can always find another box later and swap it

Re: Mike's MK3.5 Sleeper. GOT AN ENGINE
as per the gearbox theory above an ib5 would be much better than an si box as they're allot stronger and withstand faster gear chanes better than the old bc box's plus if u put a gearbox on this cat then your gear linkage won't return to neutral as your return spring is in the gearbox now on the linkage.. and my old 1.3 ib5 gearbox still let me have 120 @6k ish so won't be too slow top end as a standard 1.8 won't push much more than that realistically, good news on the engine tho will be a nice easy conversion aswell as you already have all the loom ECU etc to plug straight in, and you won't have to change your interior-engine loom plug as the mk3.5's come with the 16v plug anyway so just a simple drop in n play
also if it were me and the rs1800 looked to be genuine 60k I'd just drop it straight in and give it a good service, wouldn't really need a full rebuild after 60k IMO but if u want to be safe than sorry I can understand that, but it's not like it's hard to take an engine out of a fiesta now is it look forward to progress shaping up well
ps. would it not be worth gettin all the hoses off the rs1800 an the rad etc??

Re: Mike's MK3.5 Sleeper. GOT AN ENGINE
Yea get the rad and hoses too...
its an rs1800 engine mate, course it will do more than 120, mind gets more than 130
stronger or not, its a 1.1 box it will feel crap compared to something geared right, I used a 1.3 ib5 on the same engine I have now when I had my mk4 and it just felt appauling compared to this 1600 si box, short, snappy, clunky and raw, not including high rpms and fuel consumption

I buggered mine when I did the engine swap, tightened it down too much at the box and snapped the nut! Had another one though, it's a 15 min job, a fiddly one, but not too bad!

Will fit the engine yea, but dunno if that's the actual exhaust picture, the downpipes look very odd, I doubt it will meet your midsection
still this is a better deal than a Ashley four branch as they need loads of fettling to fit the midsection
