Re: Mike's RS1800 Azura. Recaros!
I take it when u say cambelt and waterpump is £50 that's a cambelt kit and not just the belt, if it's just the belt then you'd be making a silly mistake pretty pointless just changing the belt, with ya hcs engine have you tried adjusting the tappets? as with ya wishbones make sure they know it's non power steering and the later model of the mk3 (3.5 as we all know it) they should be able to see that all in their books and get you the right ones, your still within rights to take em back an get em changed matey just keep calm and if somin stresses you out just stop and leave it till youv got a clear head (5 mins later or 5 days later) it is stressfull havin a project that's also your daily mines been going on for 3.5 years so far

Re: Mike's RS1800 Azura. Recaros!
yeah i got a 25% thing off at ecp! so it is the kit but its actually £80 for that and the waterpump.
its not the tappets, i wish it was the case but its not, i cant get a video because it only rattles when im driing, when its ticking over its not all that bad...

Well spotted danny! The drivers one is a little torn on the piping so I've swapped them. It's nothing major though.
It was that far back for de pic y0!
Also, engine mount may not have been found

fiestasiphil
think of it this way, your the one sitting int he drivers seat, so if someone goes to get in, or looks at the interior while your sitting in it, they wont see a worn seat as your skinny arse will be in it, they will only see a nice tidy passengers
that and its easy to recline it when theyre fitted properly

Nice one! Just take it to FF with the current engine and then sort it properly after.

Re: Mike's RS1800 Azura. Ford Fair
Okay! As per title update I've decided im going to service the 1.1 and hopefully keep it going for the next month to get me to ford fair...
Then do the conversion after that, unless by some miracle it gets done first in that case, win!
Got the right bottom arms now do will be doing them Sunday hopefully gonna borrow a set of alloys to get me done there as the tyres on the steels have seen better days!
Also, the exhaust won't fix at all, such an awkward place to break!
So it will be s**t but will be well shiny! So that's the plan!

Re: Mike's RS1800 Azura. Ford Fair
Yeah that exhaust is knackered haha, you could possibly try holding it in place and getting someone to weld it, might work - however - replacing is definitely the better option as it rattling/shaking, will probably just f**k it up again

Re: Mike's RS1800 Azura. Ford Fair
has the guy even paid for the wheels? :/
why bother servicing the 1.1 if its said to be dieing with rattles, and being replaced soon anyway?
just bin it if it were me, weight it in, be worth about £25 imo
if it were me, id get loads of wire wool, exhaust paste, pack that hole on the exhaust, then wrap it using the exhaust repair bands they sell in halfords (gun gum)
should hold for a week or two ready for the conversion
save you looking stupid at ford fair with all the noise
coming along now, be raving of the sudden hike in power in no time

Don't bother with the EGR. Just bin it.
I'm sure someone will have a manifold from a non egr 1.6/1.8 zetec fiesta/escort that you can have for free!
