Every time Jony pisses you off when he says something about your car just think about the time he turned up to FITP with a cracked engine mount and his ECU wrapped in a bubble wrap and cardboard in the engine bay.

Nothing amazing - quick runaround.
Fixed it today, new bottom arms and tracked by eye.
Also may not have to sell to get a new car but will update with that tomorrow - not like anyone cares

Re: Mike's Azura. new wheels.
been busy - after getting offered >400 for my car and the purchase of a mint zetec s falling through i gae up.
i had found a black 02 zetec s 2 owners fsh 55k for 1500 and that was the reason i was selling - but it didnt work out.
so.
this;
this was the old bush - the other side was twice as f**cked and in a arage i threw it straight in the bin without getting a picture.
then after a quick clean and polished i noticed something which made me a bit suspicious of the car.
on the passenger side wing thers a dint which is still there but i thought nothing of but then i noticed the door has had a respray. a bad one.
after an inspection i found that the driers had too.
cant see it too well in these but you can just make out where its not been prepped right and the sandpaper as been at the undercoat. will try get better ones tomorrow.
also, this;
the guys in the van in that picture started shouting at me and taking the piss because i was taking pictures

MK5 ZS was the worst car I've ever owned. Such an under powered car for what it's meant to be. I'd buy and RS1800/XR2I over one any day.

Re: Mike's Azura.
For what they are I enjoyed mine, didn't expect a super at or anything but it's better than a 1.1 and does handle really well.
But this mk3 will handle just as well when I get the rear beam fitted and a front arb so not buying one now

Re: Mike's Azura.
mk5s are very boring imo, theyre all the same, you have to be madly outlandish to set the bar, and even then someone comes along and smashes your style and makes you look run of the mill
mk3 all day long over a mk5, a zetec or CVH turbo can be taken so much futher than any Zetec Se will ever go (plus theyre bette rlooking cars )
imo

I do agree on the engines.
And even the styling, now this drives straight and has new wheels I don't even know why I wanted rid.
I am a moron.

Re: Mike's Azura.
Dont know whats with all this slating zs's. They are quicker than xr2i's, less rusty, more tunable, and cost alot less to run, and look better. The boxy mk3 design is looking dated now, and its not regarded as a classic shape either like the mk1/2...imo

Ah but Henry, the Zetec SE's are the worst engines ever made remember, they can't handle power and expire at 100k...
I heard reliant robins handle better...
(just kidding, I really liked how my MK5 drove)

Sheriff Burman :Ah but Henry, the Zetec SE's are the worst engines ever made remember, they can't handle power and expire at 100k...
funny thing is you cant even joke about this
in all seriousness, i cant see how you can confidently say a 1.6 Se is more tunable than either 1.6 CVH nor 1.8 zetec's (in both N/A and turbo forms)
anyway!
were all here because (at some point) we all loved a mk3, so none of this is a surprise, the good thing about a mk4/5 is that they feel new, fresh and firm, steering is sharp and handling is informative, but they lack more than a mk3 imo, character is a biggy

I'm just going to leave a few words in here.
Pumaspeed
Shawspeed
Both have high power tuning packages for the ZS. The engine is not weaker by design. If you look after your engine, it will look after you. The reason you hear horror stories about the ZSe is because the target market for the ZS (young male drivers) were the sorts to buy the car because it was cheap and easy to insure, and not give a flying f**k about the engine once they were happily ragging around.
The reason that they are apparently weak is that the cheaper cars that you guys are looking at haven't been looked after at all well.
I bet if you bought a brand new 1.6se, did the correct running in procedure and serviced it well and regularly, it would last as long if not longer than the precious 1.6CVH/Zetec.

Yamaha wouldn't put in their efforts on the engine for it to be a pile of s**t would they?
