Re: Mike's Azura. SLIGHT update.
the front end has started to do the steering thing again - so with the ball joints are f**cked already (unlikely) or its the hubs?
any advice regarding this? is there anyway of finding out by looking or anything?

Yeah, I wouldn't trust that. Take it to a proper garage to get it looked at, preferably using a laser alignment tool rather than the old pincers. Its amazing how much of a difference tracking makes.

Re: Mike's Azura. has another slight problem.
describe the problem
hubs dont really go wrong, doesnt fit the bill either
your top mount bushes may be wornout, trackrod ends might be in need of replacing (if they are get them replaced before you track it)
oh do a small test, sit int he car and without moving or even with engine running, with thwe steering wheel centred, lightly turn the wheel side to side, and watch the road wheels for movement, if you can wiggle the steering wheel plenty but not actually move the road wheels, it could be a sign the U.V joint on the rack has perished

Got it off the ground before too, when I pull on the passenger wheel it comes out about a quarter of an inch.
That that would explain the left to right pulling too? If I can do it like that then it can do it when there's weight on the car - driveshaft buggered?
Would it help if I got a video of it?

Take it to a garage Mike, get it diagnosed. Diagnoses are usually free.

Re: Mike's Azura. look what happened.
nice car man, very clean paintwork from the pictures by the looks of it.
i remember trying to get an engine out of my boot, took 3 of us but we managed it and thankfully didnt damage anything!
can you see where the oil leak is coming from (or has it been sorted?)... my mums old ka had a porous sump so if you get stuck it could always be that.

Re: Mike's Azura. look what happened.
getting the engine out wasnt even the hardest part haha, two of us getting it in was, think i gave myself a hernia!
then we found it was full of oil still too took ages to clean.
i think the oil leak its coming from the sump plug, looks like its been tightened too much at somepoint and cracked the sump a little.

Re: Mike's Azura. look what happened.
luckily i had an engine crane when putting it in! cant imagine how difficult it was with just two of you lol!
if it's cracked the sump then you'll need a new one anyway.
just try getting a new plug, do an oil change and see how it goes.

Re: Mike's Azura. look what happened.
it is a new plug mate, thats why i think its the sump.
well at some point im planning an engine swap so no go on the new sump
yeah my mate has pictures of me and a breaker bar in my boot trying to drag the thing up - looks like i could have easily s**t myself in the process haha, took us 45 minutes to negotiate it.

Re: Mike's Azura. Opinions on the roof liner?!
hmm yes just invest in some cardboard to chuck under wherever you park up!
which engine you looking at getting now? still a 1.8?
lol. i had similar moments (where a little did seep out). i had to drag an engine crane with a 2.0l from my shed across grass, that was interesting!
p.s. love the headliner. very querky
