Re: Mike's Azura. An Actual Update - With Progress!
WHATTHEFUCK
AN UPDATE.
Okay so many of you probably lost interest in this - but believe it or not those who have doubted me! It's moving forward now and hopefully by monday will be ready for its new heart!
Okay - so I had spare time today and set about stripping the engine bay, got as far as taking out the entire loom and got the head off (no pictures yet)
I do have a few pics but they're dark so I'll take more tomorrow but here's a couple of the bay as it was at about 5:30 and the things I've got off.
There's no rust at all either which is a bonus!
I do need help though, what do I do with the fuel lines? Should I just blank them off or?

Yeah you'll need to blank the fuel lines with something. If the tank if full of fuel, get it out - syphon it out.
I think when I did my engine conversion, I used some brake caliper bleed nipple dust covers (little rubber bits on the end) to block them. I could be wrong though, but I'm pretty sure it was that.

Are the fuel lines flexis ? If so, pop an appropriate sized bolt down there and tighten up the hose clips.
Nothing to see here...

Yeah it was something like that hahaha!
Nahh I have an rs1800 engine and a 2l bottom end, also some cvh parts so may even go NA ZVH!
Doubt that though will end up being a 130 spec 1.8

Re: Mike's Azura. An Actual Update - With Progress!
Found this bad lad recently, got it for free too
Decided I want the retro feel of a cassette player in the car as Ive quite a collection of mix tapes from the 80's and 90's courtesy of my mum hahaha, gonna fit it tomorrow
I'm curious though, this isn't the model that came in mk3.5s? Was it just early mk3's?

Mike's Azura. NEW STEREO
Gus, it's not keycoded, but even if it was, 5 minutes tracking the software down and you can easily find the code.
Mike, that's a MK3 stereo. For originality you want the updated one (one that I for some reason still have in my shed).

Is the updated one the '2000'?
This came out of a g reg mk3 so I imagine it's very similar to the mk2 one

Re: Mike's Azura. NEW STEREO
ahh yeah, i thought that was the one nick! cheers!
yeah gus, hoping for it to look as original as possible inside - well as much as far as the front goes anyway - the backs going to be completely stripped.
going to replace the horrible stickbombed set of clocks i have, fit new door cards and just generally tidy it up, then standard on the outside too, with the exception of the pepperpots (which are now staying!) and a 40-50mm drop.
feel really good about this again now guys!

Re: Mike's Azura. NEW STEREO
good to see some progress I too have a standard mk3.5 radio sat around but please don't build a ZVH when you have a whole zetec engine sat there.. just crack on with the rs1800 lump IMO nice healthy one of those will do you fine plus 1.8's are more rev happy than 2ltr

to be honest, the zvh thing was a bit of a dream, just because i have some parts for it haha! would be too much trouble for what its worth really...
the 1.8 i bought needs a slight rebuild, but thats already in the works and will post pictures of that if and when it happens.

Re: Mike's Azura. Brake drum question!
Just a quicky;
im having a shot at the rear beam today too, so - will the bolts that hold the brake drums on the mk3.5 be the same as the ones on the zs? because ive lost them.
and the brake bias(?) and springs inside the drum, wil they be the same? because they've gone too hahaha!
help
