Re: Mike's Azura.... RIP
Right, before any of you kick off, this is NOTHING to do with me.
ive been clearing my garage out over the past 2-3 days, meaning the fiesta had to come out into the world for a little bit. this afternoon i got a phonecall from my gran saying it had been clamped and a leaflet had been left on the windscreen.
so bare in mind its been sorn since 01/01/13 and not been on the road since... i ring up the place thats clamped it (VEAS) who work on behalf of the DVLA. they say i need to tax the vehicle - i laugh and tell them they're out of their minds. they then say well its that or pay £260, i laugh again and tell them its been off the road/has no engine and is barely in one peice and just how they think this is acceptable.
they argue, i argue back, then i ask for a manager, he does nothing at all (some manc c**t) so its got as far as i have to appeal for the vehilce and for the desicision to be changed. which could take 2-3 weeks in which time the charges will have doubled/tripled.
the only way i can get out of this is if i scrap it with them, so thats whas going to have to happen unfortunetely - i am heartbroken, had ups and dowwns with this but loved it (hence me still having it)
anyway, tonight me and my friends are going to rip it to peices, get everything out of it, everything off it - they can take is as a fudgekin shell./ the stupid c**ts have to come from manchester for it - its going to cost triple the cars value to come and take it.
its so stupid.
im sorry.

No its You thats stupid
why would you argue with them?!
£78 fudgekin pound and the whole situation goes away, infact just being told to tax your unroad legal car is infact getting off very lightly, most would have had it towed and incurred massive fees for keeping it in a lock up each day
just scrap it its too good for you

Mike's Azura.... RIP
Two things:
1. It's 100% your fault for putting a SORN'ed car on the road, even if its parked its on the road and needs to be taxed.
2. I'm not sure you actually still have the Fiesta, and my suspicion is that you got rid of it when you got the Polo

well aware its my own fault. i just dont understand how it would randomly happen like so
and the unwillingess of VEAS/DVLA to do anything about it.
have you ever tried complaining to the dvla?

Why should the DVLA be willing to do anything about it? You declared the car as off the road, and you've parked it on the road...

Mike's Azura.... RIP
How am I being a tugger, exactly? You're playing the 'its not my fault, how can I get out of this' card when the authorities have been doing things how they should be done and the only blame comes down to you.
If your garage was being worked on the car should have been trailered to private property while the work was going on keeping things fully legal.
I have a SORN'ed car - the Saxo, it's kept on the driveway because I know if I parked it on the road it would either be reported or spotted by ANPR and will be clamped or crushed. The car will not touch the asphalt until it is ready for the road and on its way to the MOT garage.
You know you could just tax it until you can get it off the road again then claim a refund on the tax...

Re: Mike's Azura.... RIP
how are you retaliating?!
mate ive parked cars on the road but without tax/mot/insurance before, and before i did i was aware what could happen, so if it did get found out, id not be doing what you are, id do whatever i could to get my car back
tbh in your shoes (dreadedly) id rip that clamp off my car, stick it in the garage and tax my car
and nicks clearly got that idea from the lack of updates/photos of the fiesta, the fact you always said the polo wouldnt be touched and its the fiesta thats your project, but you keep making excuses etc to why you aint worked on it, despite buying still for the non project get me?

Re: Mike's Azura.... RIP
i was trying to find an alternative to paying £260 for f**k all! im saying its unlucky (just my luck) that it would just so happen when it was out for such a short period of time, i dont have the luxary of having a driveway or anywehre else to store it, or the time to be towing it around the town.
i get you jony mate, i have been buying little things for the fiesta! i want to be doing everything, im going to just take the hub/wheel off and take the shell i think as im technically not commiting an offence that way... because its still sorned and i havnt interfrerred witht the clamp...

Mike's Azura.... RIP
Yeah, see I wouldn't tamper with the clamp and I wouldn't try to remove it. Remember these guys are working on behalf of the DVLA, not a private enforcement bunch. They know where you live, they'll have photographic evidence of the car on the road, and they can give you a fine of £1000.
Pay the tax, get the clamp off, get the car off the road then send the tax disc in to the DVLA for a refund. If you still have and want the car that is.
Unlucky that its such a short time? A short time would be a morning working on it, or in my case parking it on the road for 2 hours waiting for a recovery truck. Not leaving it on the road for 2-3 days. Remember it only takes a few minutes for a police car to drive along with ANPR, or one of your neighbours to report an untaxed car on the road...
