Something a bit different from a fiesta turbo im affraid !

Some of you may recognise the car from a fello Ft member.

leighk2010 :top motor mate look in very good condtion so when the busta engine going in it

thanks fella - keeping it standard for now - its all new to me so until i learn more about them the bigger engine is bottom of a very long list of mods.

Smo :Haha, excellent! :D

What's been done to it? And how good is the shell?

standard engine - 4 branch exhaust manifold , decat , bigger bore rear section pipe , K&N air filter
sounds like a monster going down road - only to find a mini pull up

shell is pretty good tbh
needs a N/S outter sill at some point and some attention to front wings where some bubbles have appeared.
Very pleased :D
will get a engine bay shot tomorrow ...

mods wise it has:

3 branch (not 4 branch Clark!)
decat
bigger bore stainless system with mild steel backbox
k&n
engine steady
alloy rocker cover
hilos on the front.

I spent ALOT on this car

Sort the bits of bodywork and refresh the rear suspension out and its a winner i reckon, other than the fact its a mini, and minis are all s**t! The most awesome s**t car ever made!

Makes me sad and happy to see those pics mate.

Jay, I hope you were trying to talk him out of it, they are moneypits! I tryed myself tbh

Seriously thou, its a good car for a young man to own I reckon, everyone should have a mini in their life!

Nice.

Ive too have always liked the old minis, must have been something to do with constantly watching the italian job when i was younger.

My Dad has ni on finished restoring his 1968 950 cooper, Old English White with a Black roof. Its 100% immaculate would put most new cars to shame!

My freind had 1300spi monte carlo in Black last year as well, its was a total rot box he spent a month solid endlessly welding it, inner outer cills, a pillars, boot floor, battery tray chasis rails, suspension mounts front and back basically anything metal had to either be cut out and replaced or sanded down and treated.lol Its the only car on a M plate ive seen rot that bad it was actaully amazing how bad it was. turned out good in the end though and looked quite smart when he finished. I drove that one a bit as well was certainly an experiance.

Have you bought a gallon of wax oyl yet?

Gareth.

got a few jobs done today :)

another exspensive visit to the minispares center indeed

Image

Gave inside just a general hoover and clean

Image

Re-installed original radio for now :)

Image

Image
Image

Re-fitted the front grill side trims to complete the front end

Image
Removed the brake servo as it was leaking vacuum from where the master cylinder bolts on.
It was so rotten - Engine's idle was really bad with the vac leak and the worst part of it was the brakes were very very bad.

Image
Fitted the new one and all is well
Brakes are 100x better now. Nearly headbutted the windscreen when i slammed them on earlier

Image

Image

Bit tight for space i must say :D

Other jobs done previous weekend ...
New 11 inch wiper blades
New Ignition coil
new indicator stalk
Brake fluid changed

did a bit more this weekend :)
Done a Full service yesterday , drained the manky black oil from the bottom of the gearbox then hammered my trusty screw driver through the oil filter to remove that. Replaced the oil with 5 ltrs of 10w/40 semi
replaced blocked washer jets

Replaced the old sealed beam unit headlamps for the more up to date headlamps which accept H4 halogen bulbs. Much brighter than old lamps.

Image
Replaced the dizzy cap and rotor arm too.

Image
Image
Also Refitted the original airbox to the manifold and reconnected the vac pipes. idles and drives so much better now

Image
Image
Image

Ambers are back for good ! :aviator:
side repeaters were out of stock at minispares so will have to wait for them.

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx? ... 529&title=

ive been eyeing up the sports pack alloys but the genuine rover ones are very pricey !
and when fitting them with new tyres you also need wheel spacers, studs and nuts. Also you need the wider sports pack arches to hide the wider wheels

one day :)

~nomad~ :you didnt tell me you had changed the lights before they stopped working! :P

i was praying they didnt cause the fault but i tried them headlamps on the mk2 and they worked so eliminated them as the fault.
those poxy bullet connectors behind front grill were a very bad design indeed when water sets in

Excursion : I've never seen in one of those before, looks like BL made a real effort with it :)

its a nice layout , everything is accessible except the radio when your driving.
the last of the mini coopers have a dash board that goes above for dials and the radio along side the instrument panel. may invest in one soon :)

~nomad~ :Sportspack looks nice, but doesnt do anything for the handling from what i have heard

agreed it looks lush !
especially the colour coded wheel arches and 13 inch alloys.
im guessing the spaced out wheels and wider tyres make steering wheel even more stiff :oooh:

Love it, thats a proper mini

Always wanted one myself from a young lad but just tooo expensive for what you get imo. A really good one is easily the price of my fiesta turbo if not more!! :o

a mint mini will set you back at least £4500 and that still may need something fixing at some point
whether you get a fully restored one or get a very low milage they are very far and few between.

i also agree they are the proper mini's
bmw ones are so tacky
