This style mini were made right up to 2001 on 51reg, even they're rotten though...

Winter wonderland .... this is how deep the snow was today within half hour !

Few more little jobs completed today.
Replaced the pattern part ignition coil with a proper Lucas item as the pattern one has been giving me some miss firing problems.

Also took the opertunity to give it a proper clean. Replaced the front bonnet badge and fitted the side amber indicators.

mods wise it has:

3 branch (not 4 branch Clark!)
decat
bigger bore stainless system with mild steel backbox
k&n
engine steady
alloy rocker cover
hilos on the front.

Was it not an LCB rather than a 3 branch? (LCB = long centre branch. Manifold in 3 pieces including y-piece. 3 branch = all in one piece)

My Dad has ni on finished restoring his 1968 950 cooper, Old English White with a Black roof. Its 100% immaculate would put most new cars to shame!

1968 would have been a 998 Cooper, original ones were 997. Only 1cc difference but totally different bore & stroke.

Badge wise the new badge was fitted to the last of the sports pack mini cooper sports.

The manifold in the minispares catalogue does show 3 seperate pipes from head which come down and join together at the bottom... The middle pipe does look like it caters for both ports on the head

Epic, i'm a Mini nut too. Basically if it goes well and rusts i'm interested. Must be why I like Ford and Mini

Came very close to buying a Mini Cooper S and showed my cousin who is a fellow Mini nut and brought it, it's now in bits being restored, I pop along to hinder/help

Did a few more jobs to the mini today

i replaced the blinging chrome rocker cover with a genuine rover rocker cover and new original oil cap.

Back how it should be. Put a mini cooper decal on rocker cover to complete the look.



Next onto the rear end. i got a set of genuine rover mud flaps for xmas so i decided to give wack them on.






Both wheels off , drill rear panel for bolt/nut/washer at bottom, line up mud flap with chasis then drill 4 holes in arch spats for top of mud flap.

used 1000 wet n dry on tailpipe to remove tar and soot .
topped up oil and antifreeze

rover are so similar to ford, the airbox looks like one off a fiesta hcs

i would get the bodywork done but my welder lives in another country and is too busy.
Wouldnt trust anybody doing bodywork on the mini
