also came up with a some better ideas for getting air in the engine bay.

Instead of the stupid holes in the bonnet lip i am going to cut it back and fit a escort cosworth grill.
That way it will get more air in and look good.

Also instad of a gapeing hole were the licence plate was i have decided to change it to 2 slits instead.

I did a quick thing on paint to see wot it would look like and i think it will look ok.
All comments welcome.

ow and forgive my crappy skills on microsoft paint lol.

Done a few lil bits today.

Striped the loom back to the fuel pump (will take it out fully when i figure out how to unplug it from the tank).
And 1nce it is out i have to do a few reapiars as when i took it back the the pump i noticed a lot of exposed wire and 1 bit of wire looked melted into.
i think its a the wire goin into a plug that goes to the radiator.

Decided to get the fire wall off and get all the s**t out from behind it.
amazing the crap i found behind there lol.
am goin to apply some clear waxoil to this area to stop any rot.

Image
Image

took out everything from the frunt off the car and started getting any bits of sound deadning off and getting the paint back to the metal ready for the primer.
Image
Image

And a pic of the big mess that now lives in the boot lol.
will get to sourting and storing it all soon.
Image

ow and my dog zues seems to have took quite the liking to my car seat.
well he best not get comfy lol.

RS rob :i'm very interested in seeing how removing the powersteering goes for you

its not just a case of changing the rack itself,
theres quite a few things different

Well as far as i know all i need is a universal cupling for the collum to go into the rack.
and i was told by dalsy on fiestasi and he knows wot he is doing.
and he has a mk3.5 shell running non power steering and all he needed was the coupling.
so will see when i get there i am ready to drop the rack out but goin to wait till i get a manual rack 1st.

well a little update on the fez.

After some goood long hard hours of thought i have decided to let the fez go to a new owner.
As i am going in the army and it will take at least a year b4 i will have time to do all the plans i have for her.
This is a hard decision for me as i love this car a hole lot.
i love this car so much that in my short time in ownership of her i have already blew 2 relationships becase i love this car more than i did them so that shows u how hard this is for me.
I dont wont her to just rot a lie there in a garden it deserves so much more than that.

so my plans are to put her back together again like she was.
but i will use a new engine as i wont to keep my current engine as it is in wickid condision and will be used in a later build.
And sell her to a good owner prefribly on here.

yea i know m8 i love it so much and this thing made me smile so much when i berried my foot in the pedal.
so so fast there isn’t a better feeling than see a bloke in his bigger car nail it up a motorway and pooo his pants when he look in his mirror to find you are still there priceless m8 it truly is.

But like i say with the army i will be away on physical and mental training for at least 6 month then i will be shipped to do my engineering training and god knows how long that will take then i have to count on top the trips the other countries so will be a good year and some more before i have time to do the plans i have for her.
And its not fair on it really its to good of a car to just sit there its already sat there longer then it should have thanks to loosing my job dam crunch :(

And the engine is bang on.
Only problems i had was the 2 wreaked flywheel bolts and crank threads.
and the problems i had with temperature.
But when i dismantled the engine i saw that at the bottom pulleys inside the case were soaking so i think the water pump seal was away.
That would explain why my coolant levels were jumping up and down and needing toping up.
And also i was putting in nice pink coolant in and in days it was murky and off colour even tho it had had a full flush.
Making me think the gasket was away or i had a crack in the block.

but i am keeping the block and the head and just replacing the crank as it is a lethal engine and will be used again when i get another fiesta when i am nicely settled into the army.

Watch this space people.
could be a ZT in the future maybe.

goign well mate, ok probalby a long shot, but you rweckon that power sterring system will be compantable on my mk4 mate?, everything from the cooler to the rack its self

im not keen on the plate int he bottem of the bumper mate , looks werid, but its different, dunno if you read fast ford mags, but alot of the cars int here drill small holes in the shape of cirlcles int he numberplate and bumper behind it, works quite well, they do them with the sleepers etc, maybe an idea?

i think they are conpatable m8.
but i probebly be keeping the powersteering if i am going to sell her,

and if i had kept her she would never have had a licence plate as she would have been on the track it was just for the rear times i would need it.
i wouldnt recomend it at all looks like s**t lol.

That be good of u m8. :D
I think i will wait and till i have the cash and wack in a new engine its still set up for the 2 litre and if a can wack on tax n mot.
I just need to tally it all up to get a totall price to see if it will be worth it.

only thing to hinder it is the sound deadning striped and i thruw the cushtion deadning away still got the carpet may try get 1 out of a mk4 down the scrappy.

And plus it has the goodies i have put on.
full ashally system 421 manifold to back box, omp boss and wheel (was not cheap ither), the harnesses etc etc.
Just needs a good clean a new engine and its as good as it was.

So if i do it all i wont at least £1200 for her.

But as it stands with the goodies and it set up ready for the 2 litre i wont £800.
And that will be with supention done as its a bit tiyerd all the goodies u had on.
And the 1ns i put on.
braided lines, harnesses, omp wheel and boss, the full aslally system which has done 0 miles brand new
and while i am there i will throw in the head unit
and a boom box if wonted
and a few more bits i cannot think of.

so wont be a bad deal for some 1 wonting to do a 2 litter as its all ready to go wack in a engine tax and mot and it will sail the mot.
and you will have a a nice spec list of goodies to get started looking at it wrote out i think its a pritty good deal.

yea im in a similar picklenow, ive spent all night undoing all of my ghias engine, and i cant drop it out as i aint got a hoist, i was gonna put a tire under the sump and undo the mounts (i got thisfar) and just hammer the mounts utill it dropped lol

but she wouldnt fall the mounts buckeld, gotta lift it and ease it down :( engine is dead so i dont really care about it, although id liek to donate it to my old college workshop as a turret engine :P

good luck on the bidding mate :)

well do wot i did use some jacks.

all i did was striped the top half of the engine out so it was a bit lighter. got my bro to keep the engine straight jacked it up took off the mounts dropped it down easy done and dusted.

but my car is a lot lower than yours so your jack may not lift it highenuf.

but at the same time hook some lifting straps on and get a few freinds to lift it. there heavy but nothing a few extra hands couldnt do like.

i just updated myself on your progress.
is there no way you can strap a chain hoist to the roof in your garadge maybe an exposed beam you could use.
you can get 1 of them that will lift an engine no bother for £30 to £50.

i am just going to get 1 of them and build a frame out of suitible timber to go over the frunt of the car.
then i can strap the chain hoist to that.
be cheaper than a proper hoist.
and if i can do it using nuts and bolts i will be able to dismantle it into 3 bits of timber and a chain hoist making it better to store in the courner.

its a shame my car is not up and running m8.
i would happly build the frame and get a hoist and help you m8.
but unfortunate i carnt transport anything as i only have my 125 motorbike.

a sickna the only thing i can sugest is trying to build a frame to put the hoist onto.

or do it the tricky way with trolly jacks and a few m8ts.
droping it this way wont be 2 hard but i cannot say wot it will be like putting an engine in with trolly jacks as i havnt done it with jacks before.

are you using the engine to put in the red 1 like ?

In that case i would do it the way i did it.
Drop the gear box, take all the components that bolt to the engine off, whip off the head and drop the block with trollly jacks.
Use some thick long wood to suport the sump with a trolly jack on ither end and one trolly jack in the middle that will help to keep the block relativly straight when lowering it.
its a good idea to have a m8 to hold the engine staight while your lowering it becase you dont wont it to slide and damge the pas rack.
I also put some wood that i got from the side of an old unit and put it under the car so that when the block was lowered it could be lifted onto the wood and slid out from under the car once the car was jacked up.
Also its a good idea to bolts a chain to the engine i used one of the gearbox bolts.
The chain just makes it a bit better for lifting the weight off the jacks a bit and for moving the block off the jack and onto the wood.
hope its some use

Hello fellow fiesta heads long time no update.
Well the fez has been on the back burner for a while as my time has been consumed with training.
So after some good hard long thought i decided that rite now is the wrong time to be building a project car as my time is so consumed on training and my funds being very little, so although it has been a short time in owner ship i am going to say goodbye so all work has definitely stopped and the car is in the process off turning back to its former self interior the lot.

As for the new engine front, due to the threading of the flywheel bolts and the water pump leaking because it wasn't sealed rite i decided to get another one and start fresh.
EBay turned up a 50,000 miler so i went for it and it turned out to be dead and would not turn over so that set me back a bit but i have a new one now and its better than the original 43,000 miles £170 all in Inc delivery HAPPY DAYS

THE DUD ENGINE

will ad pics of the new one soon.

There is still a bit to do but he fez will get the next 2 weeks spent on it getting it sorted
also has any one tried to replace the oil pump while the engine is in the car ??? is there any issues with space ???

Thanks mate well at the time i did not have the tools available to do so, but its ok as i intend on using a new oil/water pump as the ones i have look tired and when i put this engine is there is no way in hell will it be coming back out

i want to keep mine but the job i have is only training money and its going to be like that for at least 2 to 3 years so sadly my BBG (BIG BAD GUY  ) must go and in its place a 1.6 ford focus which is so much cheaper to run in every way but it does not have the charm that i find in my fiesta :( .

well mate like i have said before i am all ford but before i was all ford i did do a lot of research into the civic and had the pleasure of owning a 1.4 hatch back for a short time and it was a hell of a car really reliable cheap to run had quite a bit of poke.
