hey hey hey mr pimp did you wack in 2 litter injecters with the engine when you put it in.
as i am looking for cheap mods to do to keep things progressing as my job sitiation isnt improving struggling keeping her going but i am maniging.
even so if she goes off the road she will return even stonger lol.

also i may be picking up a new bonnet with cosworth vents in (amazing wot you come across in the yellow paper £20 and lives in the area 2) happy days.
so i will have my nice bonnet and then on track days i can swap them over.
also thinking of cutting a grill in the frunt to aid cooling as after a few sprints down the a 19 at 120 130mph it really builds up the heat and the fire wall stops any of the hot air getting out so i think i will chop that down too.

Why not put bonnet raisers on, will be cheaper and easier to do, also will help cool the engine alot better then cutting the firewall.

thermostat packed in today (well i presume) not wot i need rite now but that is ford for you but a still love you ford lol.
i had my suspition a while ago when it seemed my radiator fan kicked in a bit to regularly.
but my mechanic m8 told me if dont over heat it aint a problem well it did over heat.

ever had some1 say to you if it aint broke dont fix it........well its s**t if you supect it sort it or be sorry just like me.

so i am hoping the car shop will be open tomoz so i can get a new thermostat and have it going again for later that day also am considering silicone hoses and a new inlet pipe for the filter k&n is gettin burned into by the bonnet.using the 1.6 inlet pipe for now but not happy with it. it dont seem to fit rite.

yea maybe but i never really had a problem with over heating it did get a bit hot yes but its a small bay its going to happen and even tho the fan kicked in reagularly it never went to the red till today. :(

so wot should i order the thermostate for should i get the 1.6 or the 2 litter 1.

over flow pipe is that the k&n pipe ar another forgive my thickness.
and if its the k&n pipe it was fine till i put the cable over the top of the pipe and didnt realise and it made a dint in the bonnet strucsher and now it burned the pipe.

am thinking of making a pipe from samco or rmd hoses just not sure how to route it.
i dont really like how the pipe goes over the manifold any ideas m8.

Bought a new termostat kit and a rather nifty life time garantee torque wrench.

So all i need now is coolant.

overflow pipe is the one that goes from the thermostat housing to the expansion tank

probs the fact the rad is only a 1.6 item and is restricted air flow with the 1.6 inlet

the k&n pipe u can get another from halfords but up to you

so i am probly best looking at a rs1800 inlet or another do you think it would be worth making space to fit the mondeo inlet asembly.

and as for the radiator i dont think i can afford a alloy 1 yet but maybe with a bit of tampering i could fit in a radaitor from another ford any ideas on a 1 i could you's.

oooooooooooooo i think i will give the ford breakers in dunston a call they will hook me up with ither rad :D .

and i am not sure on the tb's yet as i may just keep the engine standard but running sweet as and totally unristricted and just doing matanince mod's just to keep things reliable.
then when i take her off the road to be a  track wepon  then i will start toward a turbo or a tb convertion i am just not sure on wot to go for

turbo or tb :-?

they both have there plus and negative's gess i will cross that bridge when i comes i supose. :bonkers:

also raised the bonnet today an inch but i think it is a bit to big of a gap so going to go for slightly over a half ince will post pics tomorow.

also may clutch has of tonight totally died my own fault should have fitted the new clutch cable ages ago just never bothered and now i think it has killed my clutch.
so am going to get at it soon as possible to fix it just its a bit of a gammon slipper on when you are doing it by your self and havent done it before.
but i am not worried to much i think i can do it.

hey pimp and other pepole new development with my problem.
i made a post on fiesta si so will just copy and paste that see wot you think.

hi pepole's i was going to put a new box in my si after the trouble.
but today i let my mecanic m8 loose in my car and he doesnt hink it is cluch slip.

he says my clutch has a bit of bark on it so there is somting.

but the car is kind of jolting back so i am going to give you guys some symtems to see wot you think.

it is a momenteraly cut out were the power dies and as it happens....

i somtimes here a kind of click or a tick noise and i am sure its from inside the car.

the lights go very dim or cut out i cannot tell.

the interior lights cut out.

and the clock resets on bad 1ns.

the cd player cuts out.

also it had mini cuts were it dosent jolt but the speckers cut out and the interior fans lose a slight bit of power as if i had therned them to the low setting.

also it is not afermed but i think my ecu is reseting as when i reset it for the maf it ran rich on feule 4 a lil bit and was a lil bit flat till it learned it all and then it was fine.

so pepoles wot do you think any help would go a long way as i am losing sleep over this its doing me in that bad....

mr pimp this is after i got up this morn to start work on it and decided to try it see wot happened and it worked fine i was puzzled to say the least.

sounds like either the altenators letting go or the engine mounts are worn and its crashin against something but without lookin i couldnt say for sure you checked the colour of the plugs to see what colour they are could be the engines getttin too hot again ive not seen it in yonks and I didnt drive it over 110 for fear of fudgekin it up lol

you chanaged the oil since you got it as i advised ya to when ya picked it up

yea the oil has been done twice since i got it off you along with filters.

yea i am getting the same temp trobles.
the car has never been belowe the half way mark on the temp dial since i put it on the road but it never over heated so wasnt worryed.

but then it did over heat so i flushed the system and replaced the thermostat and coolant.
hasent over heated but i have only had it done 4 2 days and it hasnt been drive much in them 2 days.
it didnt over heat but it still was the same on the dial always in the high part of the guage but i may have locked air in the system.

so today i stated to strip the body for a few mods and to drop the box so i have riped out all the coolant system all pipes etc and radiater to inspect in the morning.

also going to make a few vents in the bumper along with the bonne spacers i have fitted to aid more cooling till i get a bigger rad.

also m8 take a look at the pics of the thermostat they both look differnt to each other do you think that matteres m8 i ordered it for a 1.6 fez zetec.

it will matter slightly due to the difference intemperature between 2.0 and 1.6 lol but the one i had in was 1.6 and i didnt have any major issues i had to replace one of the rad side hose just after i fitted the 2.0 as the bloody thing was leaking when you flush the cooling system leave the cap off have the engine runnign and have the heater inside the car on full wack dont put the cap on untill side is red hot this should ensure no air bubbles plus the thermostat has an air valve to let air threw so should air lock

well i found out that the clutch arm on the later modles ie the si have a bush on the arm that pushes the clutch to far.

but early modles didnt have the bush so dont have the problem of it going to far.

that could be why so meany si owner's have trouble with there boxes eating thruw clutch cable's

Postby THEHOG~ on Mon Apr 20, 2009 5:31 pm

well as from now my fez need's a new heart. :( :x

so i am going back to a freash start with the fez engine out and body striped.

my ruff plans so far are.

~take shell to baer metal and sort all the grot spot's.(very few needs doing)
~weld up the engine bay and body and fit stregthning plates.
~strip the paint back and lacer the shell and do a diy paint job just in black.
~rebuild engine.
~strip out all acceries ie. boot pop/ central locking/ power steering etc etc.
~run as much as i can electrical like the radiator fan and so forth instaed of engine driven.

and basicly that's all i have for now bar the obviuse revised suspention and power setup.

so will be a while before my fez is back hunting down the cars of tyne side but i asure you it will be back bader than ever

i hope lol

and yea she is clean like and has a real strong engine even with the oil and water problem's it still pull's 120mph easy.
but she wont be staying that clean for long as i am turning it into a track slack.

striped out more of the sound deadning today got the brunt of it up.

also my floor pan is very bumpy its in good nick as far as rust goes but there is a dint in the passanger foot well maybe from a ill place'd jack somtime in its life. :x

there is the crack off the pot hole'd road i got suckered into.

and the boot floor has more then its fair share.

so am going to bang them out and spray the floor with a layer of primer and spray the floor with spray tin's for now so it dont look to bad then i will redo it properly when i come to the full body respray later in the build.

i lifted it a inch to see wot i thought and didnt like it it came off the body to far and looked excessive to me and wobbled a lot on the hinges.

so decided to go with just over a half inch looks a treat now and does the job of gettin the hot air out just as good now i removed the rubber off the fire wall.
why they bloked the vents off at the bottom of the windscreen from the engine bay i will never know all they do is collect leaves and small things lol.
