Mk1 cortina (The zetec lives on) * Engine pics*
As promised, il start a thread to show you guys and girls the changes on the wagon over the next few months!!
Plans are so far, wheels are orderd and arriving on thursday.. compomotive ml's- like a superlite but a little different
Ordering a escort front end kit which is Modified escort cross member-adjustable track control arms-modified anti roll bar-anti dive kit-rose jointed top mounts-steering column coupling and ploybush kit hopefully tomorrow so then with some custom mounts from retro the engine should go in
Coupled with above-Suspension- mk2 capri front legs sent off to gaz to be made into coilovers 2.5"'s so quite chunky. You can also put bigger better brakes on the capri legs!!
Once a cosy box goes on there il see how much of a bigger tunnel I need, if I need one as I understand because its an auto it has a bigger tunnel as standard but how much bigger I dont know
Rear diff im not sure on yet, no dought it will be quaife or a similar atb or plated?? Custom prop.
Was on the phone to I/H last night talking about more and sorting manifolds out, oh its going to be expensive
Im going to concentrate on getting the engine in first then depending on funds engine work will be caried out later!!
Enough of my s**t anyway, heres some piccys of when I got her last week!!
And one how shel be looking but a slightly different wheel
Shes coming back to my house hopefully tomorrow so il be starting on her straight away! Il update with pics as she progresses!!
Cheers for looking

Cheers for the comments guys, it will go to as many shows as possible as normal so no dought youl be seeing it!!
Must admit I was brave to buy a car so old but every time I look at it I know ive made the right choice!!
j7aoc- The dash is quite retro, cant wait to see some gauges in there!! Its quite plain so gauges should set it off nicely!!
turboboy67- Either that or a flat cap and a pipe!!
DaveB_lives- The pop 100e in the background is a mate calums, that what we was working on all weekend!! Chassis is modded with a lotus twin cam sitting in the engine bay Only know of one other and think thats a van!!
RS_Rawli- Il call myself a legend when I can manage to keep it in a straight line
cheers guys!!

Re: Mk1 cortina (The zetec lives on)
DaveB_lives- Thats what I meant Im gona have to get practising me thinks when shes got some power
Yep she is very solid, shes had bits done... typical 1966 car but everything has been done very well to a high standard!!
Ghost- Just wheels and lowering on outside, interior wise rear interior out, gauges in the dash, nice steering wheel and id like a full cage really especialy the rate of knots shel be going
If I can stump up some more cash for the engine shes going to be a monster!! But more power means better rear axle and prob a swanky rear set up... expense!!

Re: Mk1 cortina (The zetec lives on)
The engine is going straight into a mates anglia with a big valve head and 40's!! Theres a pop in my area with the same set up and goes really really well!! Most of the bits I should be able to sell which is good, all goes towards the new bits!!
Got a mates welder earlier so where set for some floor pan action tomorrow or saturday? Either way engine is coming out tomorrow evening or welding will be done.. although dont think the neighbors will appreciate the air tools at gone 10pm
Will have some piccys tomz of what ever we do!!

Ello, lovely car and great plan! Didn't realise you were from the ghetto as well. I presume you're on turbosport already? Or possibly that other old ford site I can't remember the name of?

Re: Mk1 cortina (The zetec lives on)
Ha Ha lol.... Yeah who ever had it has looked after it, dont get me wrong its had plates here and there but its all been done nicely!! Weve found some s**t bits in the front but over all its pretty good!! Top mounts have been done before and where he tryed smoothing it all off its not that great so were going to take the engine bay right back and re-paint so the engine bay will be mint as!! I cant wait to feel it squat and spin up... and it will on those 13"s You say its a first for FT.com, its a first for ian howell I think!! He thought I was going to say an escort or somthin
Dropped the front end out tonight, engine and all front end suspension so I can see what im up against now Tryed one of the wheels on also which looked the dogs danglies so over all quite chuffed
No photos though as had to get bro's car back in the garage and run out of time but will post some up tomorrow!!
cheers for the comments peeps

Re: Mk1 cortina (The zetec lives on)
Thought I ought to show you guys and girlies a little progress D:
Just been collecting bits really and slowly putting them together as funds allow
Coilovers arrived a while ago and they have been fitted this weekend along with mk2 escort front end... i.e crossmember, rose jointed top mounts, adjustable tca's, anti dive kit and modified steering rack from old ford autos,
Front end kit,
Quick rack in here also
Also plonked the engine in aswell tonight so I can see where bits will fit, me dummy build!!
Fitted the custom rear sump from retro also along with custom engine mounts and alternator bracket which looks quite smart, just waiting for the water rail at the mo!!
Heres what she looks like at the mo,
Lowered a wee bit
Bit of a dragster as rear suspension isnt done yet lol
Also trial fitted the rad from the fiesta...actually fits quite well
Will soon have a custom inlet on there from area six along with this hopefully if it fits
Thats about all for now but will add progress as I go :top: :top:
cheers for looking
