Mk2 big brakes upgrade?
Just wondering if anyone has done a big brake convertion on the mk2 fiesta? I've seen various cossie and st170 brakes on Erst's & Frst's but nothing on the mk2 fiesta and i need to upgrade.

I've looked into this in the passed, you've got a number of options depending on how much you want to spend, and how good you are with your tools.
Option 1, you can fit any brake caliper from a mark 3 Fiesta, however you need to weld up the second mounting hole and redrill the hole in the right place.. Not really recommended, but it's the way my friend Jim has done his on his 2 litre ZVH car.
Option 2 aftermarket pads and discs, same size, just bolt on, vary in price and performance, however you probably wont notice that much difference. If you've not got vented XR2 discs already then you could go for these, off the shelf for about £50 a corner as I think you need to change the calliper at the same time.
Option 3 big brake and disc kit. There are two manufacturors that I know of at the moment,
a) http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk/ they will make you up a kit for the mark 2 XR2 for about £440 inc (quoted to me when I spoke to them last year).. Graham what's his name (zetec inside) is using them in his mark 1 race car. They give you big discs, 4 pot calliper and all mouting hardware.. You need to be running at least 15" wheels and they are quite particular on their clearances, all the info is on their site
b) burtons sell a Wilwood kit for £464.99 again you need 15" wheels and they are a 4 pot design.
If you go for option 3 you may need to adjust the brake bias etc. I can't remember if the standard valve is adjustable or not however not too difficult to replace though... I can't remember exactly how brakes work with bias, but basically more fluid goes to the rear first off as shoes have to move further, but more force goes to the front as that is where most of the weight goes under breaking.
Look at these puppies!
If you want to buy a kit and don't know how to fit brakes then I may be able to help you out and fit them for you.
