MK2 Fiesta Ghia - Low and Slow. *coilovers*
Re: MK2 Fiesta Ghia - Low and Slow. *New wheels*
i thought so ....
the rear of mine needs lowering but the 15 inch steel wheels slightly rub when someone sits in the rear of the car over rough bumps.
so was thinking of uprated springs but slightly shorter versions of std spring.
main problem is i space the wheel away to clear the trailing arms but then it gets closer to the inner wheel arch lip.

Im assuming you car is lowered if not then non of this applys haha basically when you lower a MK1/2 the body of the car moves to the left thus making one wheel closer to the inner arch and one further away. Adjustable panhard rods allow you to center the car again.

Thanks for clearing up about the panhard rod too, was pretty sure this was the case but no-one has ever confirmed it.

Im getting coilies for the mk1 soon so will need one soon

mk3 doesnt have a panhard rod - totally different setup entirely
that thing you describe is the rear brake laden valve
thanks for clearing that up jamie
i havent lowered the rear yet as it rubs already with standard ride height ...

I had a quick read through your thread mate. The problem is that the steels you have are 40ET which is way out for a fiesta. You need to look for something with a low 30ET then you'll be fine.

the steels are from a mondeo which explains the wider offset
maybe i should get two fiesta 15 inch steels and swap the tyres over on the rear

im lost too !
brake laden valve basically applies more braking force to the rear when the car is fully loaded.
most vans have them.

fiestas with ABS had light laden valves mate.
when less weight is in the car less brakeing force/fluid gets to the rears so they dont lock up under hard braking.
when the back is full and the car lowers with the weight, the valves open allowing more flow to the rear brakes for increased braking.
they tend to seize up and leak too, fcuking things (for anyone else interested, all mk3/mk3.5 ones are the same 1.1 to 1.

Ive got a few things planned. Money is a bit tight at the moment as work can only offer me a 20 hour contract but hopefully things will pick up soon and il go onto a 30/35 hour contract, anyway the plans:
Before FITP:
Coilovers
Fit satin black steel bumpers
Roofrack
Summer:
Remove bump strips, get rid of the stone chip and spray were the stone chip was the same gold as the car.
1.8 zetec conversion (maybe, depends on money)
Winter/New year
Have all the front panels on the car replaced to make it minty mint.

Why would you downgrade such an immense engine? What are you hoping to achieve by swapping your 7.5l V8 Supercharged Zetec Turbo with Waynes special manifold studs for a 1.8 Zetec?

Re: MK2 Fiesta Ghia - Low and Slow. *New wheels*
To be honest mate the supercharged turbo'ed V8 zetec is fun but it only does about 3.5mpg so its time for change. Wayne did work wonders on my old RS with his manifold stud trickery, so I'm confident with the new 1.8 in and Waynes magic it will still be a quick car.

top quality stuff - even though I don't actually need an adjustable one it was just the quickest and easiest one to source after mine broke.

If I end up doing this engine conversion then I could actually end up doing a decent 0-60 ....sub 8s with a good launch I reckon!

Should get very close to that in standard 1.8 trim, as most 2.0l mk2s get 7 or just below. TBH i woulkd just fit a 2.0l in, its slightly more work but 100% worth it.

Yea should be 130 spec hopefully, even if its still at 115 it'll go well. Il be sticking a four brand on it but most probably and using a standard drilled airbox. Im not a fan of cone filters....probably just go for a k&n panel filter. My old RS ran a 8.1 0-60 with standard air box and a mongoose exhaust being the only modification which I didnt think was too bad considering the clutch was on its way out.

It had crossed my mind but there seems to be mixed feedback on them. A lot of people seem to say they dont rev as freely as the 1.8 does? Saying that the extra 21 bhp over a 115 spec engine would be nice.
