Get on it. Should be a pretty much straight fit

To fit it I need an xr2 gearbox cradle, gear linkage, tie bars and engine mount.

MK2 Jamie :To fit it I need an xr2 gearbox cradle, gear linkage, tie bars and engine mount.
you dont need to swap craddle to fit the 5 speed box. mine runs a 1.1 cradle.
You only need a cvh Right hand xr2 front tie bar to clear the cvh alternator and of course a cvh engine mount.
The left tie bar fits ok with 5 speed box
You need to get a 5 speed mk2 complete linkage and fit that or ....
get a mk3 5 speed gear linkage and remove the stabilizer bar from it then fit the stabilizer bar from the mk2 4 speed selector to the mk3 linkage. This is what i needed to do as the mk3 item wouldnt fit straight on.
Make sence ?

Linkage makes sense. Ive heard of using a mk3 linkage before. What did you do on the gearbox cradle to fit the 5 speed box?

Re: MK2 Fiesta Ghia - Low and Slow. *Head off engine*
i just used the mk2 gearbox cradle brackets to mount the gearbox to the cradle using mk2 gearbox mounts.
i was also told a mk3 gear linkage is a straight fit but then worked out the stabilizer bar is too long for the chasis.

Should have that fired up in a morning.
Ideal that the car is a late mk2 so it already has electronic ignition on it, rather than old school points. All you need to do now is extend the little black electrical plug that goes to the dizzy, (as the dizzy is the other end on the cvh) and your away.
Gareth.
P.s that mk2 your breaking / scrapping, theres no chance you could let me know if the passenger side front indicator bulb holder is ok and working is there? if all is well can i buy it off you please?

you know it would be smart to use this other mk2 as a run around while you do the conversion, then last minute take the box off it and get the rest done quickly

Can't afford to insure it and tax it at the end of the month.
