a 1400 wouldnt be a bad enigne mind, im excited about mine, okay the carb ones are 70cowpower not the 75 the efi is but still, its not bad, and with a decent exhaust and four branch, and a tidy filter, you can get around 80 from them :Q

would need megasquirt for that, for that money you might as well go for a 1.8/2.0 and get decent power at the same time

Re: My mk3 Ghia project!! Alleycats??

Postby Gus!! on Mon Mar 04, 2013 11:36 pm

Might be able to get hold of some alleycats for £80, they are 6j on the front and 6.5 on the back and they have tyres. They are black and the 'zig zag' bit is polished.
Thoughts??

Seeing as i didnt get paid enough to buy the alleycats, i have been thinking about polishing the pots for a while, what would everyone use, just a polishing wheel on a grinder etc?? Or is there a better way?? Bearing in mind they are currently painted silver!

use a mouse to take trhe paint off, will make light work of it, then its elbow grease from there on out!

work thought grades of sandpaper wettign and drying it, once its practicly smooth as can be, polish the metal using metal polishes like autosol! :D

you could then laquer them to keep them fresh with little maintenance, but it may peel after time

If you polish alloy wheels they will oxidise over time. Realistically the best bet is a wax or other sealer once they're polished up to try stave this off.
Nothing to see here...

not a fan of polished/lack peppers

the capri ones are 6j, low offset will make them sit on the arch, not sure what they would be like without a XR kit

id suggest you get Si front spats ;)
