I'd be surprised if it's the column one... I'd take a look at the one to the rack, first. That's the one I'm on about.

Also, ratspeed, i dont want all the money back i just think 500 is fair for everything on it, plus the shell aint too bad, its solid where it matters!!

For what you've put in, just do an engine conversion to get that power thing you want! Even a 1.6 Zetec would be different!

if you can find a mk2 XR2 engine (carb) plonk it in and your good, would just need an exhaust to go with it (from say a mk3 XR2i) and you wont need to change anything else, few little wires here and there liek the coil pack plug, water temp plugs

So ford fair made me think, i really should do an engine conversion of some kind. I know the easiest way would be to get a 1.6s or xr2 cvh and swap, however, what other parts do i need and what do people think the final cost would be?? My engine is carbed and i have the little esc pack which controls the crank sensor/spark and stuff?? If anyone has done this conversion it would be a great help and any advice or knowledge will be appreciated!!

Not saying there is anything wrong with it, just I had to use my headstock as they were slightly different, you saying I could've pushed the rack too far into the uj??

Postby Gus!! on Tue Oct 29, 2013 12:46 am

Had to fix the steering, which has been done. Turned out the uj under the bonnet was half the problem along eith the colon needing to be pulled up about an inch. Will be needing new shocks soon on the front. I am looking for some sports shocks (spax or something) or some coilovers, i havent got too much to spend though :(
In the last month i have put a new starter motor and a new exhaust on. Next is powdercoated pots and tyres for them :D
So i actually have a positive attitude towards the fiesta again!!

Re: My mk3 Ghia project!! Attempted theft!! :S

Postby Gus!! on Fri Nov 15, 2013 5:36 pm

Somebody attempted to steal the fez last night, they would've been successful if I hadn't disconnected the crank sensor just in case (as I am visiting my girlfriend at uni and it's not a nice area) I came back to where I left my car and it had gone , obviously I feared the worst and went straight to the police station. They then informed me that they had caught the little fucker in the act and that they had 'recovered' my car as it wasn't safe where it was, they couldn't contact me as they had no way to do so. Anyways, I went to inspect the damage and they had bent out the passenger door and hot wired it by taking the back off the ingition barrel, they obviously got the starter to turn as they'd tried choke etc, but they must have then been disturbed!! I am just glad that I have the car back, however I had to pay a £150 release fee and leave it at the garage overnight also it's cut my holiday short by a day!! I will also not park my car in Middlesbrough again!! baxtered!!

I think your insurance company might actually pay the release fee if you speak to them. It was still stolen.

Hello people, got some progress, put the original bumpers back in plus I'm getting a front with overriders, got an xr2i spoiler to fit and gonna get some spots, so it'll basically look like a 1.6s, not that I'm trying to make it a rep.
I also have some spax shocks to fit with my current springs, no spring compressors atm :(
Next month I need to buy a rear beam with arb and some xr2i calipers, disks and pads. Then save for zetec!! :)

You don't need to change the rear beam to fit a arb.. Glad your keeping this and carrying on with it. :)

True but it's easier to swap the beam rather than weld brackets?? Also, if I get front and rear strut braces, do I then need to just drill the holes to attach it!! I thought I might as well keep it as I don't have a lot of money atm, plus I know all it's problems and quirks, a new car would be starting from square 1 again!!
