It didn't help that some penis had riveted the plates on before I had it, might try and get some like the ones you got for yours the other day!!

As the weather was lovely today, I sorted the front bumper, straightened the number plate, cleaned and polished the car and also replaced the air filter!! Then went for a drive in the sun!!

I cleaned behind the front bumper and I was actually surprised how good it is

The old air filter was pretty old!!

I think it's now time for some of these steels and trims (from earlier in your thread, obviously!):

Well I thought that, but it's quite common and I think the banded steels and trims would look a bit cooler :)

I already have one in the garage, need to find something to stick it on with, if I'm getting this rs accessory kit I might as well well and do it when I get the skirts!! :)

Re: Mk3 1990 fiesta ghia!! Spax and rs goodies :)

Postby Gus!! on Fri Apr 18, 2014 4:28 pm

Hello people. Made some progress on the fiesta today, finally put my spax shocks on, had to give them a quick coat of black as they looked a bit rough tbh. Had a bit of a drive with them, the car no longer feels like everything is loose, I shall be 'testing' them on a long drive in the new forest shortly!! I also invested in an rs accessory kit, I have attached the front and rear bumper and now all I need to do is get some adhesive type substance to do the skirts!! And the tip of the exhaust now looks gay :(

Anyways here's a few pictures!!

I was thinking Zetec but after having a conversation with a mate the other day I might go cvh on a carb!! Birman has had a lot of experience with fiestas so his approval can only be a good thing :)

Well you have had more experience than me!! Everything I do to this car I love it more!! The problem is, where I use the car daily it's hard to find time to do things to it, due to lack of tools I have to borrow my dads usually too!! :(

On the way back from Brighton today, some dozy Bic™ in a mazda 6 rear ended me at some lights, which pushed me into the car in front!! The front of my car isn't too bad, just a light and bumper, the back however has creased the boot floor, I also can't shut the boot, I'm not sure if it's possible to pull the rear panel out :(

Ah, no way :(

You could probably straighten it all out a bit so it looks OK and the lid shuts, but you'll probably find it nightmare to get right. I had an Avensis slide into the back of me in the snow once and it didn't look too bad. I made the mistake of opening the boot and not being able to shut it again! I used a jack and a hydraulic ram to straighten it out and was able to shut the boot again, but I was never going to get the boot floor flat.

Has the impact damaged either of the chassis rails?

You'll have to get some better photos, may be with the back seats down so you can see more of the boot area as a whole from a bigger distance. It's hard to tell, but it looks like it was quite a whack to tear that rear panel?

Chassis rail on drivers side looks bent and so does the inner arch!! Also the door shut has moved forward slightly I think!!

Cut two holes along the rear of the boot, below the chassis section to which the boot striker is bolted to. Feed through two tow ropes and use another car to yank out the damage. Take it steady. If you can get the rear door shut correct the rest is an easy repair, or may not even be required if you can put up with a few creases inside the boot.

Buy it back and do what Mark said. That's what I did with my MK5 when a lady in a Ka went into the back of me, although I didn't use another car, I tied a rope around a tree then into the boot. Worked a charm :)

The car is twisted, the rear axle has moved over about 2 inches, so I'd say she's f**cked :(
The current plan is to see how much insurance pay out and then get another one!! And sell all the remaining bits of this one hopefully!!
