Mk3.5 Brake upgrade
First off i checked the guides and left stumped so dont tell me to read em!
I am looking to upgrade the brakes on my mk3.5 but i'm not really sure on what model car i should be taking parts from. I thinking along the lines of using calipers and disks from a Sierra but i'm not sure if this what i should be going for, Or even what model Sierra.
Can anyone enlighten me please

Sure, there are a few popular conversions around (Some of which are in the guides ection).
You can use the 4X4 Cosworth brake set up, RS2000, ST150 and a few more but these seem the most popular if your talking for your front brakes.
Do you have a need for better brakes? Just a 1.1 with Cosworth brakes should IMO lock up alot easier since it doesnt have the weight/power to warrent the need for a brake upgrade.

1.1........1.1, Well i never, Have you forgotten the 1.3 I am looking at the conversion mainly because my brakes are a bit crap, maybe it's just me but i feel it would be no harm to have something a bit more substancial to slow me down. There is also a plan for something a bit bigger to go under the bonnet but more on that later

All depends on your price limit. Some XR2i/FRST/SI brakes will do you fine, there vented for starters. You can pick these up quite cheap - Myself for instance am selling a set off an SI, drilled discs with Greenstuff pads for £30 plus postage.
If your thinking of doing an engine conversion then maybe splash out now for better brakes, pointless doing it after the conversion to find you cant stop your car!

You can have my old FRST set of discs and pads for free. Just pay for postage. I'd hate to throw them away.
It will be a huge improvement over what you have now anyway. All you will need are FRST/XR2i calipers and carrier.

To be honest standard Si/XR/RS brakes should be up to the job. You may find you have other problems leading to crap a pedal. Clapped out brake fluid and cheap and cheerful pads are usual culprits.

If you have solid discs then you will need the caliper as well. If they are vented then iirc they are already to the same spec as the Si/XR items
