I just moved to late spec mirrors from M3 ones (the M3 ones cost me £25 with backing plates, new, from CT racing).
Much prefer the late spec mirrors, and you can swap the Mk4 Ghia electric internals into them too

I have thought about this for months!!! But have decided to opt for the Ford mirrors as they are fully adjustable (from the inside) and I was thinking the same as Project ST2000 bout the electric internals which would add a nice touch of class! So thats me sorted and im off to order me a pair this week!!

I have a price for them, let me find it and i'll get back to you. Btw packers these mirrors only come in matt black and Ford do not advise to spray them. The Mk4 mirrors were the ones that came with an option to spray as they are sold pre-primered.

Yep they are the Mk3.5/Mk4 mirrors. I will be going for the Mk3.5 as the fitting will be perfect and for the fact that my cars met black i wont need to be in a rush to paint em (thats if i decide to).
However if u go for the Mk3.5 ones if im not mistaken isnt Al a wizz kid at painting these sorts of things?? Didnt he do Ian's handles aswell?? Al.....

how much did the body shop charge to do them???????
my cars radient red, so is it better to get mk3.5's and try and paint them, or do mk4's come in the colour i need?????
is there a difference between the fittings for them both. ie will 1 fit easier than the other to my 1.1 H reg.
if the mk3.5's are better whats the procedure for painting them???? is there any special preparation / paints / primers or finishes i would need to use??????

packers defo go for the Mk3.5 mirrors as the fitting will be perfect compared to the Mk4's.
As for preparation i'd guess you need:
1. Sand em down before u begin so their smooth
2. Prime em with plastic primer (Halfords)
3. Spray on your colour (3-4 coats enough in my book)
4. Sand em after each coat for extra smooth finish
5. Sh|t loadsa lacquer!! (To be on the safe side from flaking)
P.S. Remember to spray the inside of the cup too (i.e. behind the glass itself)
I do apologise if i got any details wrong there and would not mind if anyone wanted to correct me!....
