MK3.5 Seats into a MK5 Fiesta

Postby Andrea on Thu Mar 21, 2013 11:12 am

Hi all

I know this has probably been asked many times before  ...

I've recently bought some RS1800 seats from a member on here and fitted them to my MK5 Fiesta. The MK5 had pre-tensioners as standard but the RS1800 seats don't.

Does anyone know if the loom under the carpet can just be traced back and unplugged somewhere (long shot I know ) or does anyone know what resistor I'd need to use to fool the car into thinking the pre-tensioners are still there and put the airbag light out.

Cheers
Andrea :)

I've read somewhere about a 2ohm resistor I think?

Yeah, I read that somewhere too.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I've run one on an airbag system in the past, so this should work.

I have found pre-wired fused resistors on eBay for seatbelt pretensioners, but these are 2.1 and 2.2 ohms rather than 2 ohms. I'm not sure whether this would cause a problem? So might be better to go with 2.1 as its closer to what I need?

Thanks for the link there Andrea, I'll be ordering a few of those, I've got 4 airbags to remove (2 bags, 2 pretensioners).

I recently put a set of fiesta rs seats in a mk6 for a friend and for him to keep the pre tensioners I simply unscrewed the point where the base attaches the upright and welded two little braces which I made up to the runners looks like it was meant to be there. Can send you some pics if you want when my mate gets home from work to see how I done it if you like

So ... I tried the 2.1ohm resistors and these didn't work. However, after checking again I've found that some of the fused ones make the resistance bigger, so probably not the right resistance for the car  So I'll have to try something else
